@Luvsmyfam. That's why I suggested Googling for some names of places to check out.

@Luvsmyfam Venting is good but now challenge yourself to do more and more for yourself and be less dependent on others. I was in a complete immobolizer on my dominant arm due to broken shoulder and several bad casted hand breaks and still cooked and even worked out my lower body. I am someone who does not like to be dependent on anyone and the challenges to find ways to do things was actually very satisfying! I did need some help at times but if I could find a way to do things myself I did. Actually found I was venting less and less and enjoying things more.

@Pook I see you mentioned having a broken shoulder at one time. I broke mine last week had surgery a week ago today. Next week I get the sutures out. Currently I am in a sling and do take the sling off several times a day to exercuse the the elbow, the shoulder is immobile. bruised and swollen, as expected.
I am wondering about an itchy feeling that has started in the last few days...is that part of the healing process?
I have never had a broken bone, the pain was...intense to say the least but every day is better. My husband has really stepped up. A good night's sleep and a bath would be a God send...the couch has been my bed.
Like you mentioned to @Luvsmyfam it is good to at least try to be independent when possible. I do my hair, make up and dress every day, it helps my attitude. Of course, I need help at times.

As others have mentioned, it's only a temporary inconvenience. While it's totally understandable to vent, it's also a good idea to try and do more things for yourself so you're not so dependent on others. You'll surprise yourself on what can be achieved if some effort and creativity is put into it.

Is your wrist your only problem, or do you have other injuries that prevent you from getting out and about on your own? How do you normally get your groceries? Do you drive?
I can understand not being able to make meals from scratch, but if your wrist is your only injury you should be able to go to the store and buy precooked chicken or other ready-made meals that just need to be put in the oven. Pre-made salads are available too, along with various fruits that don't require preparation other than perhaps to be washed, which you should be able to manage with one hand.
It's not ideal, but I'd be doing what I could on my own to supplement what help I could get from others. Hopefully your cast will be off soon.

You don't have to be on facebook @Luvsmyfam.
Just put it in search bar.
It is amazing how limited we feel once first breaking something but a liittle imagination and creativity as others have said becomes something to be discovered and enjoyed. "Where there is a will there is a way!"

I recently broke my left hand and just got my cast off after four weeks. My biggest problem was washing my hair and opening jars. I went to a local beauty school to have my hair washed and it was inexpensive and they did a nice job. My son came over and opened my prescription bottles so I didn't have to struggle with those. Otherwise, I was able to do most things...being careful not to put pressure on my hand. Once the cast was off I could do anything I needed.
I hope you are going to physical therapy and doing the home exercises. It is a great inconvenience but the time goes by quickly.
Good luck to you!

I feel ya. I had a knee replacement and can't stand long enough to cook a decent meal and the walker gets in the way. I also can't drive since it was my right leg so fast food is out, which is better for me anyway.
I have a group of friends who bring me meals twice a week. I am so blessed to have them in my life. They're about the only real meals I get.
I'm POA for my 91 yr old dad who fell in Nov and had a brain bleed. He's in bad shape and I miss him like crazy. I've seen him once in the last 2 weeks. A friend is taking me to see him today. Yea!
I get staples and stitches out on Monday and I pray the doc will let me start driving soon so I can go see Dad every day.

All the best to you, sorry to hear about your dad and hope for the best. Take care.

Grub Hub and Uber eats. You can only do what you can do. When I fractured my wrist years ago, I was in a cast for 12 weeks. I took three days off work because I was a supervisor and couldn't take more time without my unit going to heck in a hand basket. I had hubby at home but he was working the 3-11 shifts so I was alone. I just figured stuff out and did what ever I had to do. When someone came to visit, I'd corral them into chopping vegetables or opening cans. Stuff I couldn't do with one hand. There are tons of frozen meals in the grocery stores and you can open them and pop them in the microwave with one hand. My sister is paralyzed in her left side and she eats them. Focus on what you can do instead of what you can't do, you'll feel better.
