So far my life has been amazing and when I'm called home I want my family & friends to enjoy a great party. There will be lots of food, drinks, stories & the music I love from Neil Diamond & Celtic Thunder!

@Jasmine19  Have you ever heard the Georgia Boy's Choir sing "Going Home"?

There are a few versions of it on YouTube, but my favorite is from 2010.

They are an absolutely amazing group of little boys to young men, magnificently coached  and conducted.  I am transported when I listen to this.

I'll look for that version. Going Home has been covered by many Welsh men's choirs also. Don't know what it is about men singing that song but it is so powerful!

@Mi47 Yes, Brudda Iz rendition of over the rainbow brings tears to my eyes, however when I watch the video of his ashes being spread in the ocean, and the people celebrating his life, it brings it into perspective for me.

Songs are based on personal tastes.  For example my good friend passed away, at the funeral her songs were country, with her favorite song from Johnny Cash, Ring of Fire.  I gasped when it started playing because she was cremated.  All of her friends with me smiled at the thought.

She had retired 2 years before her death, the first year she came back to our office to have her tax returns done (we both worked for a CPA), she seemed a little "off", and repeated her thoughts, but I though nothing much about it.  The next year , my supervisor called me into the office and said Mary's here but her husband wanted to let us know that Mary had Alzheimers and wasn't the same.  I, of course went to see her, held her hand, but she was very angry, verbal.  That was the last time I saw her, as she died soon afterward.

The original "You Raise Me Up" by Secret Garden.

Lyrics: Brendan Graham

Music:  Rolf Lovland of Secret Garden

Many artists who cover this beautiful song leave out the middle verse for some odd reason.  I highly recommend the full original version.

At my mother and grandmother's funerals my brother sang Ave Maria, He has a beautiful and powerfull voice. I chose Let There Be Peace on Earth for my mother's recessional.

I have driven my daughter crazy for years by telling her that I want "Enter Sandman" by Metallica to be played as my coffin is carried into the funeral mass. The full version with the little girl saying Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep......

One More Day was played at a friend's funeral who had died of cancer.  She proudly was buried with her head bald, no wig.  I'm sure this all was discussed with hubby before she passed.  Me, I want The Dance by Garth Brooks.
