Re: Food Talk: What is your favorite...........

I had my favorite sandwich when we went out for lunch today.  From the menu:

DELIGHTFUL SUMMER SANDWICH
buffalo mozzarella, tomato, Bermuda onion and basil with an extra virgin garlic herb oil & an aged balsamic drizzle, on a country roll with salad greens

Re: Food Talk: What is your favorite...........

I am not a big sandwich eater and rarely make a sandwich for myself at home.  If I do make a sandwich at home, it will be a BLT in the summer when I can get good Jersey tomatoes.  When in Maine, it is a lobster roll.  I love a good diner so my sandwich of choice would be a hot turkey (breast meat) with mashed potatoes and gravy.  My Italian South Philly roots come out when I am craving a pepper and egg, cheese steak, meatball (don't skimp on the gravy) or a hoagie (it is all in the bread, which is getting more difficult to find).  In Kentucky, I love a good hot brown.  I like good tacos but prefer it in the guise of a taco salad.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

I'm trying to think of a sandwich I don't like.  Everything from Philly hoagies, cheese steaks, BLTs, peppers and eggs, tomato sandwiches with just salt, pepper and butter on white bread...

I'm starving!

Re: Food Talk: What is your favorite...........

Love a good sandwich with good bread, crunch vegetables, fresh meat and tasty flavorings but I can't have cured or red meats for awhile so I've learned to enjoy veggie sandwiches, sometimes chicken but my heart isn't into it.

I love a good Reuben, many restaurant cooks love to turn them into a soggy mess.  I can make a good one replacing the meat with sliced beets.  Delicious!

I love bread, but I'm not a big sandwich eater. I'm not really a fan of lunchmeat. I loved a pb & j sandwich or a grilled cheese as a child. As an adult I like chicken salad or BLT once in awhile. I rarely choose a sandwich if there are other things to eat.

@Andreatoo! This is a GREAT thread! I agree with all the posters on their choices. Can't say that I have an absolute fave but probably a BLT would win. But I can't pass up tuna, chicken salad, sub, bagel & lox, Thanksgiving turkey leftovers, egg salad, hot dogs, brats, etc. I could go on & on!

Now that I'm starving, what to make for dinner??!!

Thx for starting this thread & to all sharing yummy choices!

@MOMMAVik  Thanks for reminding me about our Delaware Bobbie--Thanksgiving on a roll.

There was an associate in our law office that had PB&J every da for lunch.

I saw him 5 days a week for 3 years, always  PB&J.  I like it but not that much.

@CrazyKittyLvr2

My uncle was the same way! When I first moved here to Miami I lived with my aunt and uncle for about two years and he ate the same thing for lunch every single day when he came home from work for lunch. Salami and mustard on rye!

For those of us that aren't daily sandwich eaters somebody needs to come up with a short loaf of bread!

I never eat sandwiches...have not had one in some 30 years.

When I did eat them I liked BLTs and a Clubhouse.

@Andreatoo, I have seen some breads labeled 1/2 Loaf in the bread aisle. One brand I buy is Lewis Bake Shop. Comes in various types, whole wheat, 12 grain, nutty oat are some.
