Re: Food Talk: What is your favorite...........

For some reason we didn't make them at home (when I was a child) but the BLT was my favorite when we went out....

I hate when you find a great sandwich and the restaurant folds!

It was portabello mushroom on a crusty french bread with cheddar cheese and a garlic aoli. Can't rember what else but nothing since has been the same!

And apparently I need to go to the midwest for the Catholic Italian-American classic peppers and eggs! Sure I can do it myself but I'd prefer to have someone else make it! Lol

@Mj12

I used to be able to get them at a place called Joe's but it's gone and there is now zip in my area! I even googled 'em! Nada.

Re: Food Talk: What is your favorite...........

I'm not a big sandwich fan, but when we eat out for sandwiches it's either a Schlotzky's original, no tomatoes, or Jersey Mikes Tuna Salad or Italian.

At home I keep some turkey and maybe bologna around for sandwiches. Sometimes alone, sometimes together.  And sometimes I'll just eat a slice of bread.  I'm partial to Kroger's black label Signature Select Honey Oat bread.

Re: Food Talk: What is your favorite...........

I love a good sandwich. My absolute favorite is Boars Head turkey, swiss cheese, bacon, thousand island dressing grilled on rye bread. The restaurant where I worked 30 yrs. ago had it on the menu. I make it at home.

Then, in no particular order, tuna or tuna melt, grilled cheese w/tomato, ham or bacon, turkey sub, a really good meatball sub and lastly a cheesesteak with fried onions from a place near DD's office.

Re: Food Talk: What is your favorite...........

I like sandwiches - they're quick, simple and easy.  Eat them just about every day!

One fave is ham, genoa, pepperoni with various cheeses on-hand, sliced peppers and me homemade dressing (just mayo, sour cream and a pinch of rice wine vinegar and a dab of Pete's hot sauce with lettuce and fresh black pepper on a bulkie.  Or if using blck bread, just buttered bread with the genoa salami.

Another simple quickie one is cheese and fresh basil stuffed in half of pita, buttered on the outside and grilled.

I enjoy all homemade sandwiches but must always refrain from pickles, onions, etc,, 'cause I often share them with my furbaby, Eddy.

At the risk of sounding dumb, what the heck is a peppers and egg sub?
