Besides your own important papers, current photos of your pets, their vaccination records, collars and tags ON. All papers in safe waterproof carriers. Leads and crates at the ready.
Inventory all MEDS have them filled and sitting out in plain sight to go into carriers. I have a backpack for humans and one for pets.
Tight plastic carriers at the ready for Cell phones and chargers.
Think safe, and take all precautions!
Wow, Drythe, you are amazing at this....your infor should be on everyone's refrigerator or hung in their homes.....especially everything for our pets...they are family and should always be treated as such....so sad watching all the poor pets left behind...makes me cry every time...Bless you all in the path of any hurricanes...

I lived in my house for 4 full days (alone with my cat) during a winter snow storm. I used a heating pad for warmth at night and during the day I was in my car. I had a portable VCR and watched some movies I had during the day in the car.
My house is total electric. You can bet I now have some huge batteries and a kerosene heater (with plenty of kerosene).
I can relate! We had an ice storm and lost all power for 5 days. My husband went to his parents and my kids stayed with my mom. They all had power. I stayed there alone w/the pets and the gas fireplace, lol! I will never forget it..I set things on the front porch so they wouldn't get spoiled..the temps were in the teens..it was very scary!!

I was used to doing things on my own because my late husband traveled quite a bit down to Florida. He fixed everything but wasn't always around. When someone came to work on the heat pump I was the one who was standing next to the guy to learn about it because my husband was usually out of town (nothing ever happens when husbands are home...Ha!).
When he died suddenly, I never missed a beat. I have good friends who can fix everything, so if I can't do it, I call them. Recently, the hot water went out. I went down to the hot water heater, too off the cover and pushed the reset button, that's all I did, took care of the problem. I watched my husband so I knew what to do. Not brain surgery.
When the electricity goes out I go down to the garage and check the fuses (a 'soft' one means it's tripped). I reset it and good to go. You wouldn't believe the things I've done myself. I'm not any smarter than anyone else, just not afraid to try. That's it, just TRY.
You'll do great, I know you will. I think women really run the country. I believe in the power of women.
I'm single as well...its amazing the things we can do!!!!!! I too believe in the power of women!!!!!!

If you use Amazon to order hurricane supplies...do it quickly. They won't deliver once it get bad outside. Many roads will become impassable.

Thank you so much for your prayers and the suggestion about ordering from Wal Mart on-line is excellent!!! Doing it now!! Even though we are in Savannah, Ga., everyone is taking this weather very seriously which is good.
We're in Savannah too and I went to Sam's today to stock up on batteries, water, etc. and they were really busy but had a good supply of everything.
We also have already made reservations in Augusta, in case we have to evacuate.

It must be so horrible to wait and prepare for such a storm heading towards Florida. I would recommend to evacuate if they tell you to..... get out early.
