Flying the flag (every day) is great but spending some time serving your community would be great, too.

I remember this date with angst and so I try to stay busy and avoid the news. United 93 went down near here and at the time our Red Cross chapter was in charge of the site, caring for the families, workers and planning the remembrance services. I was the Chairman of the Board, it was one of the most stressful times of my life, I still have nightmares from the weeks I spent at the crash scene. I miss the comradery that we had following but the event nearly destroyed my psyche.

What a wonderful, kind person you are; strong and courageous. God bless...

@chrystaltree ...............The American Flag is not a decoration.  It is a symbol to honor our country and the Americans that lost their life fighting for that flag.

Its wonderful that you do things for our country but please do not disrespect the American Flag by calling it a decoration and those that choose to display it.

@We rescue cats .............Thank you for helping with the tragedy of Flight 93.  Those people on board that plane are my heroes, they saved the White House by choice.  They were very brave.

God bless you.

Thank you, our chapter's volunteer team is so dedicated and worked nonstop. They were phenomenal, I just had to show up-they did the work.

The remaining group of us get together from time to time, we will do so this week, there is a very special bond-but our group shrinks each year...  The air disaster team was so confused when they showed up at the scene, they expected to see a downed plane - they saw nothing, the plane was buried in the reclaimed earth. Only the fire in the trees behind the burial site showed them that they were at the right place.

Anyone who remembers sacrifices made for our country, lives risked and lost, and has prayers and reverence for the USA is a hero of mine as well!

How you choose to remember and uphold the United States is up to you!  It's all good--Just do it!  God bless the USA!  Heart

@chrystaltree  In other words you are justifying why you do not fly our flag.

I do not care who does or does not fly our flag. Choice.

But do not refer to our flag as a decoration and please do not justify not flying our flag with the usual excuse about "actions". Because we never hear about those "actions" until the subject of flying our flag arises.

@ThinkingOutLoud  Who said they only fly our flag and that's it?

Some fly our flag and some do not.

The point is those who fly our flag are always lectured about community and actions etc. as though they do nothing else.

Yet those who choose not to fly our flag are never given the same.

Do as you will and let others do the same.

Justification for not flying our flag is not needed.

I stand by my post 100%.

Let's not turn this into a discussion on who displays our flag or doesn't.  It's a day to remember a horrendous, cowardly attack that killed thousands of us and to remember the innocent victims.

We don't display our flag daily, just on certain remembrance days.

Wow! Talk about taking my post out of context. You've obviously been triggered so it would be good for you to look at why and deal with your own stuff. Till then, chill before posting is highly suggested.
