@geezerette    I will double check but I am sure I have that 'checked'.

I realize this is not a big deal but. I 'followed' a public post so that I could remember an event that I wanted to attend...I guess when I do that it is public (as my name is made public) or the few friends I have can see that I followed that post...not sure which.

I guess it bugs me knowing that anyone can see that I followed a particular post.

Generally I copy and paste anything I want to save and put it into a folder on my desktop.  When I logged into facebook earlier a friend 'liked' my response to a post....I did not post anything I only indicated  I was interested in the post.

Yes I realize it is petty but I dont like it, I don't think there is a work around, probaby following or indicating 'interested' is public.

@Mom2Dogs

If you look at your settings, you'll see that some of the options for "public" pages are limited to only "Public", "Friends", or "Friends of Friends".  There are no totally private options in those instances if you interact with the page.

@Qgirl26   Are you aware if people know when your facebook page is open?...meaning they know when you  are on facebook looking around..not posting just reading what is on your feed (if that is what it is called)

@Mom2Dogs your friends will know when you're on Facebook if you use messenger. On messenger, there will be a green dot on your profile pic when you're active on FB.

@Ainhisg   I believe 'Messenger' is an app....which I do not have.

I am notified on my facebook page when someone messages me..generally it is when I have something listed on Marketplace or when I have messaged a business requesting a quote, information, etc.

Thanks

@Mom2Dogs, Messenger is also resident on the full website.

I never use any Facebook apps.

I'm on my Mac right now, and looking at the main Facebook general feed I see "Messenger" as an option on the left side of the screen, along with other options such as Friends, Memories, Saved, Groups, and so on.

I just click on it there when I want to use that feature.😊

@dooBdoo ... I do not see the options you see only Menu, Messenger, Notifications and Account, which is my profile picture....to the right when I open Facebook.

I know I am being parinoid but it just irks me when a person I know remarks on something that I 'liked' or was 'interested' in...which is very rare, mostly I use facebook for looking up a business profie, phone number or when I am looking for a service person...and selling on marketplace, which she 'liked' something I was selling.

From now on I know what not to do, but when it comes to selling obviously that cannot be kept private.

thank you.

@Ainhisg

I also use an alias on my fb page and made up birthday.
There may be a dozen who know my real name and they're all associations I belong to.

@Ainhisg  I need to do that.  I have nothing on my profile account....and just 3 friends.

I only wanted facebook to sell on Marketplace then a friend 'friended' me..ugh.

Now to come up with a fake email...as far as what I have listed under my current name, I guess I can delete and then re list the items?

@Mom2Dogs You control who you are friends with.  You need mutual consent to be friends so someone cannot friend you unless you agree.  There is always an option to delete friend requests.

@Lilysmom1   Yes, I understand how the friend thing works (I only have 3)....but I did not realize they (particularly 1 friend) could see most things like I mentioned up thread....I did not want any friends, I just wanted to sell some things on Facebook.
