I have a lot of the same fears, @Shanus.
I am more worried to day than I have been. I was told today, that someone who has tested positive is still going to work. And a doctor from this area did post on fb last week, how some people who were supposed to be self quarantining themselves were going out and about and he was chastising them for it. Rightfully so.
I was told some people cannot afford to be off work, and they are sick and will not get tested. I had not even thought of this posibility.
So tonight, I sit and I am wondering is it safe to order groceries from wal mart? How do we know if we order grocieries from anywhere that the person who is getting them for us is not sick or is not a carrier.

@ItsME wrote:@Shanus I think you have expressed eloquently what many are feeling. It took almost no time at all for me to cringe when I see people close together in tv shows or movies. And I wonder how long it will take to get back to what was always normal. I wonder if I have a stronger reaction because my health is severely compromised and I'm terrified of catching the virus, or if everyone feels this way. The best we can do is take it one day at a time, and hope we stay out of harm's way.
stay safe. This will pass.
I find that I’m having that reaction even to pictures in magazines. I look at a happy grouping of people and feel nostalgic for those times and then wonder if we can ever be quite that way again.

DH and I just watched the 2016 movie Hacksaw Ridge last night (based on a TRUE story), to see how our brave soldiers faced death, hardship and terrible violence in service to their country.
The movie is very moving, and proves we can survive and prevail if we have faith and trust in the goodness of our brothers.
Lots of lessons for today, and every day.
My father also served in the Navy in the Pacific in WWll~

When I opened this thread I had no idea what it was about.
Reading it in its entirety is completely on my shoulders, I could have stopped.
I understand that many are experiencing horrible, aching emptiness...loneliness and fear......please believe me that I am not minimizing that, and frankly I am grateful you have a place to share and encourage each other.
For me, personally, this is the type of thread I need to avoid. I refuse to let this stupid virus write my story. I refuse to believe that a nation as great as ours will be permanently and forever crippled by our current situation. We ARE strong. We ARE resilient. And we WILL overcome.
A walk in the park? nope, not a chance. A pull up your bootstraps, grit your teeth, dig in and sacrifice? HECK YEAH.
Get mad, get angry....get determined. Most importantly believe in the strength inside yourselves.
And if nothing else, think about every single public servant going out there day in and day out to keep OUR way of life going and surviving. If for no other reason, find a way to honor the sacrifices they are making by forcing yourself to plow ahead each and every day.
I never thought I could care so much about a group of posting strangers as I do about this group. I hate that you all are hurting. I hate that we are in this mess. But....it is a temporary mess, and don't let it destroy or alter the amazing human being you already are. You are a strong group. Do not let doubt or fear tell you otherwise.

I sit with you crying and afraid as well. my optimism & resolve crumbled today with the news that this lockdown is being extended minimally until the end of April. I'm terrified our countrys economy cant survive. its unrealistic to think a country can survive 2 month of complete shutdown. I worry about the emotional stability of the isolation of an entire country that a month ago was prosperous & social. I live in Louisiana & I see pictures of abandoned New Orleans streets being taken over by rodents. And my state is now considered a "hot spot". There are over 200 confirmed cases in Caddo Parish alone. Many many more in Orleans Parish. Up until today I was optimistic that this will pass & we will triumph. Now I am in tears, afraid & alone.
We can keep in touch on here...I'm alone too..I feel your pain! ![]()

Like your post and much of it is the same or similar to what I have said in a couple of posts in this thread. Thank you.

I wonder what we'll learn from this and if as a human race, it will make us better people. The world has never been problem free, but often when something is happening on the other side of globe, it doesn't impact us as Americans. Now we are in the midst of a crisis and the US is getting especially hard hit. Will it unite or divide us? No one knows for sure. Some think our political divisions started in the last three or four years, but I think most of it began on a large scale after 9/11. We thought we were invincible and sadly, found out how vulnerable we actually are. That scared people which made some angry and in turn they lashed out against others. Camps were drawn. Now we're fighting something invisible and how we battle it will show us what we're really made of. My hope is it will strengthen us and prove that we are more united and a whole lot less divided.

@hckynut Good morning, John. Sorry to interrupt your response to @Patriot3. I'm always positive about what's going on around me in the world, too and hope all will work out. This is my first encounter with something I can't control that's negatively effecting so many people. I'm overwhelmed!
I'm always inspired by your positive outlook.

@roeroe1005 The only bright spot in all this, from what I'm understanding from the top docs on the news, some w/ COVID 19, experience flu symptoms and recover or symptoms so mild, they never knew they had it. Good and bad! If your symptoms aren't bad enough to be tested, you can be contagious and not know it...that's how it's spreading. Mandatory lockdown is no joke, but those who need their paycheck are going to work w/ minor symptoms. It happened in our county and announced this morning. That entire building is now quarantined!!! Who knows who all those workers came near. Until EVERYONE realizes this pandemic demands staying away from others, it will continue to spread.
