The first place I plan to go is the gym.

@FrostyBabe1   I had a huge stack of weights, bench and a universal gym in our other house. The public gyms here were non-existent and I worked out at home and ran 6 miles a day. Uh, I was 50 then. I was able to move it all to this house and it's on the balcony area in the upstairs hall (study/computer area for the kids on the plans). They had already graduated from college and DD was married, DS was married soon after.

In the last 15-20 years, gyms popped up everywhere. Mine is sponsored by the University Hospital...a gorgeous facility w/ group fitness classes, first floor hundreds of workout machines, upstairs is a track that circles the entire gym divided for walkers and runners. I really miss going, too. I'd be a little nuts w/o my equipment upstairs and my hour walks with Molly. I'm much more motivated having to leave the house.

Re: FIRST PLACE YOU WANT TO GO

Has anyone been using FaceTime to visit w/ kids and friends. I had never used it. Leave it to my 11 yr. old GD to talk me through it and now we can "visit" all the time.

Definitely will not be going to WA (near Seattle) to visit DD anytime soon until that area is given a good scrub down. She (hygienist) & hubby (Microsoft exec.) have been working from home for a over a week. We do visit w/ Face Time.

@LIndaMJ   Can't imagine my hysteria dealing w/ roots now. I can manage a bang trim if necessary, but covering silver roots every 2 weeks, no way.

Re: FIRST PLACE YOU WANT TO GO

I would love to go to Ireland. But I haven't flown for almost 19 yrs (due to a health issue). I have gone on vacation and been places just haven't flown. But I went to Ireland when I was 16 and it has been some time since I was that age. That is just a place I have wanted to return. I almost went 15 yrs ago when I was in England with my husband and father visiting a brother and his family who live in London. But we did not have the time.

As for places I would love to go to around home--to Make sure my mother is OK. As I have mentioned in other postings she is older and has serious heart health issues. One of my brothers has been with her and previous with my father as well.

I would love to go to a local Mexican eatery. I love their food. I especially love their Enchilladas rojas. Delicious. This is strange as I am not the biggest Mexican food lover but somehow this place--it doesn't matter--just plain good food.

If you get a minute one day, what's the secret? Fear of falling, breaking a hip or major injury? It's really puzzling. I'd really like to cruise down the rink w/o wobbly ankles. Stay well.

@Shanus , Hi to you!

Secret? No, but here is what I tell beginning skaters that really want to learn to skate and are not just out for that day.

1)- First you have to have good pair of skates that actually fit right. Newer hockey skates? Your ankle would have to be broken to bend. The old "wear 2 pair of socks is a bunch of baloney". For example: I wear a men's size 10 or 10 and a half shoes. My hockey skates are size 8.1/2. I have to cram my feet into them. They also have to be laced as tight as you can get them, especially the top 2 lace holes. Now I am talking hockey skates here.

2)- All types of actual "skating" is done with 1 foot off the ice. When I stride, 1 foot is off the ice/when I cross over to turn, 1 foot is off the ice. The only time both feet are on the ice, is when I am coasting, which I seldom do. Therefore learning how to balance on 1 foot is imperative.

3)- Anyone that is truly in fear of falling? They should not be trying to skate. I don't like falling, it hurts, but if I had a fear? I too would not be skating. A person that "really skates", and often, is going to fall, regardless of their skill level, Period !

Those things I stress to those that ask me for some tips. If you can't balance on 1 foot?  Time to do some off the ice balancing drills. I still do at least 15-20 minutes every day when I do not skate. Of course strong legs and good cardio help, but do nothing as far as standing up on ice skates.

Figure skates? They have many different types. Jumping skates/dance blade skates/short and long Program skates/blades. That I know from a young kid here at the rink who is a couple hairs from making the US Figure Skating Team. Other than that? I know squat.

Stay safe and stay well now,
