Going on 85 and going strong.   Just lost inches and can,t reach shelves I use to reach.  In last 3 -4 years, went from 5'6 3/4" to 5 '4" . Other than this, back aches once in awhile when I do too much exercise,  so far so good.  Been very fortunate.

Welcome to my world, you lasted longer than me.  But yes, watch those tricky 70's LOL.

Next chapter in my book, "Just keep on, keeping on...LOL".

You're fortunate that this is all you have had so far!  And that it was not something more serious.  I'm not saying it isn't/wasn't painful but at least it's something that you have been able to readily get addressed.  Once I hit my late 50's, things really started to hit me!  I felt like one day I was still young and really on top of it and then the next --- ouch! What the heck happened to me?  It's been one thing after another.

@Shanus   NO NO NO ...  do NOT be down.  This isn't necessarily AGE RELATED....  things like this can happen at any age, but I think as people get older they tag them as age related.  Shaus,  I CLEARL REMEMBER being in my early 30s, going to a dept store, bending down to look at something and having an issue standing back up.  It, thankfully was temporary and a one time thing,  but it was so painful, that I remember it 30+ years later.    With your amazing attitude and some PT,  you should be okay.  Just be patient and you won't be a patient!!!!!    YOU CAN DO IT.

@nyc1   Thanks so much for your encouragement and kind words...my doc said it's age related. Not me. That's what got me down, but after so many weeks of PT and doing my exercises each day at home, thing are looking up. I can still paint, make my jewelry, and continue doing my makeup and skinare clients. All good for now....Met with them braless for a few weeks, but it was a good conversation while I was steaming their faces.

@Shanus  SOmetimes people, even doctors, say things and don't realize the damage WORDS can have.  It may be age related, but not necessarily.  Even if it is...  a GOOD ATTITUDE and DETERMINATION to get past whatever you are dealing with will help help A LOT.  You are so smart and have so much going for you....  you can tackle this too.   I don't know you personally, but from your emails here,  I feel it in my heart.  xoxo

Re: FALLING APART!

[ Edited ]

@Shanus

 Did your PCP or PT tell you that just being over 50 greatly increases ones risk of rotator cuff problems?

I have partially torn my right one twice now, and went to PT to help in my recovering. The first time was when I had just retired at age 52. Right now I am pretty sure that same one is again injured. I am working it out on my own, for now.

Because of my past mass bleeding issues the strongest thing I can take is a tylenol type product. Do they help? 😅

What one "use to do", especially if decades ago, mean very little. I know that flexibility in gymnastics goes unnoticed by those that tend to be non athletic.

While I am still very flexible when it comes to my spine and lower body, my bouts with bursitis in my left shoulder going back into the 1970's, has left permanent damages. Most of this, and my arthritic fingers, were caused by my factory job.

I quit running when I no longer wanted to compete in middle distance races. I was 61 years old. Never ran over 40 miles per week, and never ran 7 days a week. When over 50 I reduced my mileage to a max of 25 miles per week. I ran less, but ran faster in all distances from 1 mile/2 mile/5k and 10k races. Won many times in the over 50 age category, mostly in the 2 mile races.

From then I concentrated only on my heart rate during my skating/elliptical/NuStep and inclined Treadmill walking. Used interval training in all of those activities. Along with all my aerobic exercises I included flexibilty and core strength exercises.

I can still do all the lifting I need to do, but am very cognizant of the limitations presently with my right rotator cuff. As long as I can put up with the night time "discomfort", cats lying on it don't help, I stick with my home PT.

Glad you are pretty near there and my best to you.

As for "Advil is wonderful"?  I can only wish. Right now at 130+ blood transfusions? I have to pass.
