@hullie   & all:  Today is cool 70 with rain also, not like the first day of Summer but we really need the rain.
   I had an inflatable sea horse but never could get it to stand up correctly to ride on it.  My rubber inner tube was better. My son had those also. I don't think they have inner tubes now.
  Last night my son and granddaughter surprised me with Krispy Kreme donuts after her dance class. I had mine for breakfast this morning and had energy to do the housework. I don't take her to dance if it's stormy, it's too much traffic on the roads in the late afternoons.
   Tomorrow I have a dental cleaning. It's about 25 miles away so I hope the rain and traffic isn't bad. I've canceled the last two due to sinus infection so I must go rain or shine!

@1Snickers Lucky you to get Krispy Kreme.  Years ago they closed all of them here in Minnesota.

Good luck with your dental appointment today.

You all must have a Summer Story.  What was your first summer job?  Do you remember playing outside until dark? What's your favorite thing to cook/bake/BBQ in summer?  You get the idea.  Share a summer story with us.

@Sassy7356

So many summer memories. One that evokes a smell memory is with my girlfriend's peeling clothes off to swimsuits underneath in locker room at pool and before we went out we had to rub some Ambush stick cologne lavishly all over us. I'm sure everyone smelled us coming out to pool, ha! We were only in fifth or sixth grade but had to smell good for the boys. That scent will forever be associated to summer days.

 Babysitting was my first paying job but after that was roguing and detasseling in Iowa cornfields. I liked the outside job better. Then worked in my dads grocery store in high school.

Ghost ghost out tonight was a favorite neighborhood dusk game. Basically everyone hid except one who had to tag all the others before they got home.

We didn't have air conditioning growing up, maybe mom and dad had a window one in their bedroom and on the hottest of nights we'd sleep on the floor in their room with dad always yelling shut that door!

@hullie I remember playing Ghost Ghost and Annie Annie Over where you threw a ball over a house and tried to catch it.

Like you, my first paying job was babysitting.  I started off in 4th grade babysitting after-school for a family.  Then I added the principal's family of 6 kids and I got $.10/hour.  When I got my driver's license I was done with babysitting.  Then, I worked in a bakery weekends during the school year and full-time for the summer.

When my parents got a window air conditioner I thought it was too cold.  My bedroom door always remained closed so I could keep the window wide open.

Happy Summer friends!  And happy wednesday!  At the top of my summer bucket list, a chance to get to splash around in a swimming pool.  I already have my bottles of bubbles and have been having fun blowing bubbles at the dogs.  I look forward to eating cantelope and watermellon and sitting outside under the stars with a cool drink.

I hope all of us have a summer of fun with a pause in unhappy events.  God bless all of us with a giant hedge of protection around us so that we may enjoy the summer and each other.  Love to all!  Heart

@Sassy7356   Yes, my friends and I would play hide-and-seek in the dark with just the street lights and lights from homes the only light, such fun, no one would dare do that now.

When I was young, summers consisted of going to a different camp for the Summer as my Mother worked, and I would come home at the end as brown as a bear.

As a teen, it was just being around friends, and walking to a Foster's Freeze and buying an enormous, tall ice cream cone, loved the softee ice cream.

When DD was little, we would spend many weekends in Monterey at a beach hotel and she would lie on a board in the surf. guess this is called body surfing, while DH would stand near-by, and I would take pictures.

@mousiegirl

So, you went to camp for the entire summer?  I would imagine you made lots of friends.

What a great memory for your DD especially with pictures.

Re: Every Summer Has a Story

It is sunny and going to be 92 today here.  Last night we went to the local Farmer's Market and picked up quite a few goodies:  fresh strawberries, rhubard, Bloody Mary mix, lefse and kettle corn.

Today is a busy day as we have a gutter company coming to give us an estimate and our new upright freezer is to be delivered this afternoon.  After work Jason will take me for my nail appointment.

I will clean the strawberries and make another shortcake.  The rhubarb will be cleaned and cut into shorter pieces for a rhubarb cake I plan to make on Sunday.

And, then there is also laundry to do and a few more boxes to unpack.

I hope you all have a great, productive day doing things you love.
