@AuntG .   I  have a ton of photographs to go through when I retire (hopefully within the next couple of months).  Many are of people I don't even know.   I think they belonged to my uncle and his wife.  Somehow they ended up in my parents' house.   Of course, there are also many of my own family photos to go through.

I hear ya - I don't get sentimental about "things" either.

However, I am sentimental when it comes to the people in my life

I never want to let go of them, but their "leaving" is inevitable and out of my control.

@LavernLuvsShoes  "Leaving is inevitable"--truer words! The older we get it seems like there's a funeral to attend every time we turn around. Sad, but that's life.

Something that stops me in my tracks every time I think about it--I am one death away from being the oldest woman on my dad's side! Of the six siblings, there is one sister still alive.

That is coincidental.

We actually built it together over a 4 year period.  But, he probably touched every square inch over that time, while I just took orders Cat LOL

Hard to believe it's been over 30 years, now.

It was about two years for us. Moved in 1986. We were living in a trailer on the property--I can't even count how many sandwiches/beverages I carried to him and whoever he could rope into helping! The only "construction" things I was allowed to do was hold one end of the measuring tape, or hold a board in place while he nailed it, lol!

I have cards and things going back generations. I know where they are but don't go through them. I lost 5 family members in the last 14 months and going through cards from deceased loved ones is too difficult right now.

Just a tip for the future.  If you have Photos, Write Date and the NAMES of those in it and their relationship to your family on the back.
