If someone lies during a business transaction, it's game on. I will write a negative review, hopefully alerting others to their poor business practice.

If this seller had not blamed you for the cancellation, apologizing that the item was no longer available, it would be fine. She also needed to give you a satisfactory explanation for why she did this, when she cancelled, not you.

These things happen, but it's never okay to lie. And, don't ask for a good review if you do. If you're positive there was no misunderstanding (and it sounds like you are), leave your review and block her.

It was obvious from that first email that just didn't have the item.  Then you harassed with emails for an item she didn't have, then you got mad and tried to ruin her business with a bad review.  I would change the review but I would not have written in the first place.

@chrystaltree I think the OP was owed an explanation as to why the order was canceled. According to her the cancelation notice said that she canceled it, which she did not. A good seller would have explained why in the first cancelation notice.

Maybe it's just me.   I would have understood from that cancellation email that the seller didn't have the item.  She's a small time seller just trying to make some money and didn't want to admit to Ebay that she canceled the sale. I would have understood that and just let it go.  I wouldn't have treated the incident like it had any importance in the scheme of things.  No money exchanged hands.

i would let it go.  i know it's disappointing.   you received nothing broken, damaged, defective nor misrepresented did you?

was it a one of a kind unique thing?  see if another ebay seller has the item or something similar.

@Mom2Dogs   If I were you I would not change the review. She was rude to you I think and now she's trying to 'bully' you if you will. If indeed the case was she did not have the item or she 'ran out' why was she not upfront with you from the get-go and tell you that. No I would not change the review, in fact I'd ignore her email and move on.

@PINKdogWOOD  I did not change my review....after several attempts to find out why the item was cancelled, she just kept saying I cancelled.

The item was a bra, I find it hard to find the the size I need -32G in stores and was thrilled to find one on line.

Yes, you should change your review.  The seller didn't really do anything wrong and this is the way they make a living; apparently, your order was on top of someone else's order.

Happens all the time here on Q.

@Mom2Dogs You did right.  The seller LIED to you about who canceled the order, blaming it on you and only after you left negative feedback came back to apologize only to ask you to amend your review.  Of course, if she hasn't left a review for you yet, she could also leave a negative review for you.  Maybe you could change it to Neutral but also say Seller canceled your order and was untruthful about it, but you were not wrong in giving her a negative review and I certainly wouldn't change it to a positive one.

When I look at reviews, if there's only 1 negative and 99 positives I tend to believe that the one negative was just an aberration.  Sometimes, things go wrong.  But, you don't know if this seller does this on a regular basis if she is able to bully customers into changing their reviews.

No, sellers cannot leave a negative review. Ebay revised their policy of sellers leaving reviews to avoid retaliation by sellers. A seller is able to leave a comment under the negative review but cannot leave a negative "review" for a buyer.

@chrystaltree Seriously?  Tried to RUIN her business, my review was EXACTLY what happened...she was no help when I contacted her at the time about the cancellation.

First email said that I CANCELLED, I did not.

@cjm61 Thanks, it's been a couple of years since I've bought anything on Ebay.  I was going to recently, but then got hit with some unexpected expenses so didn't.
