I received the first of probably many emails to customers explaining the efforts to keep the store sanitized and healthy for shoppers. They are wiping down surfaces, informing all employees to stay home if sick and wipe down counters, etc. more often. They also reminded shoppers to continue to enjoy shopping online at Nord.com and The Rack.com. I'm assuming the stores in the mall are feeling the pinch of people staying out of crowds.
I thought it was a nice, personal touch.

I also received their email. I'm guessing, like you, we will be getting a lot more.

@ms traditional .... and carefully wash hands after opening packages. Lots of people handled them.

Nordstrom is one of my favorite retailers. This policy must have been issued after my visit last Wednesday at their NYC flagship store. I saw no evidence of any special precautions (not criticizing just stating) although my friend and I washed our hands at every opportunity, used hand sanitizers and avoided touching surfaces when at all possible. To be fair, there were only 1-2 cases in NYC that AM, with the numbers escalating much higher by the time we left the city on Thursday. Anyway, I applaud their steps to keep their employees as safe as possible. I feel for those who work in retail at relatively low paying jobs that have to show up to work no matter what.
Even on Wednesday NYC seemed to be feeling the pinch of canceled events. We were able to check into the hotel at 8 AM (unheard of) and had no problem getting a last-minute dinner reservation at a fancy restaurant.
PS my friend had to go to the city for work and I had agreed to the trip a month earlier. We both made a considered choice to go ahead with the trip. We washed EVERYTHING when we came back home and put the non-washable stuff in isolation for a few days. I know, overkill, right? But from now on I will be VERY selective about my outings as I am 64 and my husband is 70 with a chronic health condition. Better to be safe. I am a homebody by nature so it is not too much of a sacrifice!

@chvall99 I am in a similar situation...I'm 65 and healthy, DH will be 68 in another week and has chronic health issues. He likes to go out to the local state park which is five minutes from home to take the dog for a walk.
Other than that he rarely goes anywhere and I'll probably stay in more now too.

@Shanus yes. just wash hands a lot for the time being. !! and keep hands away from eyes. i also picked up that staying hydrated is good for rejecting invasion of viruses.
you can't be too careful -
but then we should have been doing this anyway: already at least 16000 have died from the flu here in U S this flu season, which we don't talk about or over-dramatize, about 300000 hospitalized. perspective, folks, perspective.

I don't know about personal, they electronically sent out millions of those emails. They know where this is going, they want to maintain their cash flow and they are encouraging online shopping.

Yes have gotten a few of those emails. Got one from Doordash about them now leaving your order on the porch, taking a pic of it and texting you that it is there then waiting a "respectful" distance away from it while you pick it up.Am sure this is the wave of the future for awhile.
