I took my parents out for lunch Sat instead of actual Father's day.We had Mexican food and a 🍓 cake 🍰. All was delicious. All of us 5 kids are planning his 90th birthday party the end of July
He definitely has slowed down which is very hard for us kids to see.They both still drive and live independently in their home.I see them regularly because they both are avid readers so they come to the library where I work

I hope everyone has a good work week

@Luvsmyfam

So nice to hear you guys all had a great day Saturday.  I know just what you mean about it being difficult to see our parents slowing down...especially dads. ❤️❤️❤️

Slowing down is part of aging. You are blessed to still have them in your life. 90 is a significant milestone that few people get to see and if they do most are not driving or living in their homes independently.

When my parents were still living, we did the same by going to dinner or lunch the day before the holiday to avoid big crowds and being rushed.

Happy early 90th birthday wishes to your dad!

@Luvsmyfam That was a good plan to celebrate on Saturday, the restaurants are so crowded on Father's Day. Glad you had a nice day.

@Luvsmyfam Slowing down is inevitable, if we live long enough, to even do so. But, still being independent and able to drive at 90 is wonderful.

I hope they continue to thrive for a good while, with family sharing reading recommendations. Their love of reading has probably helped keep them mentally sharp.

Enjoy, and celebrate their long life, with enthusiasm. It's a great gift far too many are denied.

You are fortunate to have your parents and that they are still getting around ok. This is the first Father's Day without my dad as he passed away in April at the age of 95. Lived in his home until January this year. My moms been gone since 2013.
