Our dry cleaners was sold a year or so ago.  Small town with no competition.  I was shocked when I had them launder two quilts that would not fit into my machine.  These had been done by the previous owners for a reasonable price.  This time it was 45.00.  These were Ralph Lauren and Laura Ashley for ridiculously cheap prices from TJ Maxx years ago.  Less than the laundering charge.  I'll take them to a laundromat with big machines next time.

I worked for a dry cleaners for 10 years, and that is a reasonable price. The ladies that do the washing and pressing work hard, I did the counter work, and believe me, I would not want to work in the back. Everything cost $ from the machines to the cleaning fluids. Also, even though I worked there, I would also take my quilts to the laundromat and wash there and hang on my washline to dry.Our cleaners did not dry clean quilts, but laundered them.
