Yes, it's normal but don't cancel. As someone else suggested, get in your car today and just drive around the block a time or two and then drive a bit farther later in the day. I would not ask a friend to go with you, because no one is going on your trip with you on Tuesday. You need to do it by yourself.
A truck and I backed into each other in a parking lot in June. First time something like that had happened to me. Very minor paint scrape to his old vehicle, but $5500 worth of damage to mine! At least I can still drive it and the lift gate works.
Two months later, and I still feel a bit anxious when I drive, and it aggravates me that I feel this way! I'm mad at myself, because the fender bender was partially my fault. But I go anyway, and what that fender bender did teach me is to use my backup camera. I've had that technology for years on my vehicles but while always glancing at it, have never used it often while backing up. I have always turned my head and looked behind me. This fender bender sure taught me, because if I had been looking at the camera, I would have seen him coming toward me and could have reversed and gone forward back into my parking space.
My car will be in the shop for a week. We are remodeling a new home we bought, and I could not do without my car hence putting off the repairs. That is slated to occur next week, and I will be glad to not be driving a crinkle car any longer. lol

Sorry that happened and that it affected your confidence. I don't think you should cancel. A few options to help: use EFT, positive affirmations, lavendar essential oil, say a prayer, ask for protective angels.
You got this!

@gellen ...............About 3 yrs ago I backed into another car getting out of a parking space. I felt embarrased and stupid, and was afraid to drive especially backing up. But I got right back into the saddle again. I had a little anxiety the first couple of times but that got better with time.
Dont cancel if you dont go you will have a much harder time the next time you want to drive, besides losing $200. Do some practice runs before Tuesday. Good luck!

I had a minor parking lot fender bender yesterday. I am supposed to head out for a quick solo trip on Tuesday. It is about an hour and 1/2 drive which I have done often. I am feeling a little anxious about it and wonder if I should cancel. I would incur a 200.00 cancellation fee. Is this a natural reaction and has anyone experienced the same thing? Thanks in advance
My advice is to get back on the horse asap.
My car was totaled years ago by someone who rear ended me doing 70 on the interstate and sent me to the hospital in an ambulance. I drove as soon as I was able to get that noise out of my head. It worked.
Fender bender makes me thing it wasn't a big accident. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be upset and concerned.
Count your blessings that you're alive and well and move on.

@gellen As long as you weren't hurt I would go for it. Keep your confidence up!

You definitely have to go - just carry on as usual. The longer you wait the harder and harder it will be. A fender bender is no big deal - very common.

I would say YES, what you feel is totally normal, judging by what most have written here and adding my 2 cents.
I too had a "minor" accident in April. I couldn't believe it. Haven't been in an accident in 40 years or so and I was shook up, but because I was no where near home I had no choice but to get back in the saddle and get home.
You might be a little nervous, drive a little slower, be more cautious, allow more room at a stoplight when you're behind someone, but you'll get your nerve back. I wouldn't cancel your appt. Just leave extra early, take your time and get there safe. My brother who was a police sergeant always told me that and I didn't always listen.

Get back in the car and drive it as often as you are able until you feel comfortable again. Drive around on familiar streets and roads, do it even though you could walk it as easily. Just work on being confy and regaining your confidence. YOU CAN DO THIS!

@gellen I'd take a few trips nearby and feel confident again. I think the longer you wait to get behind the wheel the more difficult it can become.

Sorry you are experiencing this. I agree w/most posters who say do a little bit of driving today before you make your trip tomorrow. Please let us know how it goes.
