Closed. I leave the hall light on and I want my bedroom pitch dark and cool for sleeping 😴.

Open.  Although I feel quite safe here, I want to be able to hear if there is any odd noise in the rest of the apartment.

Door open.  @Kachina624  That's the same reason I have for NOT oiling my creaky front and back doors.  I know if someone is entering no matter where I am in the house.

Open.  My dog's bed is in my room and she gets up often to get a drink during the night.  My cat will usually visit a few times too.

Mostly closed until the cat comes in and starts yowling.  Then, it is locked.  Door to my bathroom is open.

The fire dept. recommends sleeping with the bedroom door closed.

Every previous house: door open. Had to keep an ear out at all times for the kids, even after they left home.Old habits. In my last house the dog would often sleep in the doorway or the hallway during hot summer nights. Hardwood floors and better air circulation, I guess. This with a/c and a tower fan facing the bed.

Now my BR is on the first floor and faces on an angle toward the front door. Can't see into my home through the door or windows, but still makes me feel vulnerable, so closed door it is.

The dog still gets out of bed to lay on the hardwood in front of that same fan on summer nights.
