What you did was remarkable.

Your doggie may not know it, but you are his hero.

I'm glad you are both safe and warm.Heart

@Lucky Charm

Thank you.

When we got in the house he sat down with me and we stayed that way for hours until he wanted to be fed.

When I lived in California Burrtec Waste had a service that they would take trash container to the  truck and then return it to your garage. There is an extra fee , you could inquire with your trash company.

I'm in Northern California and called my utilities company. I was put on hold and will call before noon. They do offer this service.

@Puppy Galore ........I'm reading your post and crying, thinking about you and how terrified you must have been (for yourself and your sweet pup). I thought about how selfless you must be, as you were more concerned for your faithful friend, your pup, than yourself. Resourcefulness comes in many forms, and you are a heroine, my friend.

That precious dog is as lucky to have you as you are to have him......and I think we here can all agree with that sentiment. Best wishes to you both.......so glad you are safe and sound.

@Puppy Galore.  I forgot to mention that our trash company, Waste Management, will pick up our garbage can at the house with a doctor's statement, at no charge.  Your gate arrangement,  however, might make that impossible.  I think they have to offer that service under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I called my utility company  a couple hours ago. The woman I spoke to gave me the requirements. The problem I would still have is getting all three bins to the middle of the driveway.
My neighbor's son was outside a while ago.

I asked him if he would take them out to the street and bring them in.He's 21 and very responsible.

I offered to pay him and he declined payment.

He'll take them out to the street the night before and roll them back in sometime the next day.

He works part time for Pepsi until he becomes full time.

He loves the Olive Garden and I'll purchase gift cards for him, once a month.

I don't like asking for help and have always found a way not to.

@Puppy Galore. Great solution!  You're lucky to have a good neighbor.  I'm in The same situation as you and not as lucky.  Oh well, I'm darn good at taking care of myself thankfully.

Please don't cry.

I made a promise to myself and my pup to always care and protect him.

I believe I did what was necessary, in my case It was to save my pup.
So many members have pets and or a family member they need to get back to and they would do no less.

Thank you for your kind words.

Living alone is so difficult sometimes. Down right scary!  I dread having to beg someone to help me go to Medical Care out of town. I also have no family. Friends have their own problems and are aging. Women outlive men and lose husbands too soon.

My Great Uncle, a plumber, lost his wife. The family spoke of him and leaving her stockings hanging in the bathroom. He couldn't bear to remove them.

He diid though, happily remarry and everyone said she was nicer than the first one. Uncle John, got stuck in the bathtub and his wife called the fire department. Happy ending and made a good family story.

It's a beech for sure.

A lady down the street had breast cancer and .underwent radiation which burned her so badly, she had open wounds for months. She needed treatment in San Francisco. There's a transfer service here which will take you, free. She had to align her treatment dates and times. She also, like us doesn't have family. She's 80. The transfer drive was over 4 hours.

Have you checked if it's available in your area?

Funny story about your uncle.
