Lists! How can anyone function without them?!  And is there anything more satisfying than crossing things OFF the list? I actually make little check boxes when I write lists.  For decades, my husband chided me about my lists.  Now that we're older and our memories are less reliable, I find him making lists for himself.

I have an app on my iPhone called "Clear".  It's for making lists and it's the best I've found.

However, sometimes there's no substitute for good old-fashioned pen and paper lists. My mom used to take save blank halves of greeting cards, especially at holiday time, because they are great card-stock for making lists.  I guess this apple didn't fall far from that tree.

For instance if something is going to be on TV I want to watch - it goes on my calender, if I need to refill or purchase something it goes on my calender , just today I noted that stuff at the cleaners would be ready to pick up. I always put all my own & DH's appt because we only have one car so we have to be careful not to overbook it. If I need to check on anything at all - or remember to make a phone call - it goes on my calender. Big things or small things - all goes on the calender. It really keeps me organized.

Yes!  That's how I live and honestly, I am dumb founded by all this talk about  paper and notebooks.

Yes I do make lists. I keep a grocery list next to the calendar on my kitchen counter. I write appointments on the calendar so everything is there at an easy glance.

I keep my “month at a glance” calendar open on my desk when I call for appointments. I can never make my next one at the stylist, doctor, etc. I wait until I ck. my trusted paper calendar. I see others scrolling through their cells and IPads at the checkout desk, but just don’t trust changing appts. in one place and not in the other.

Definitely organize myself w/ lists...either on lined sticky notes or note paper. I keep 3 grocery list going: SAM’S, WholeFoods and Target, There are To Do lists for me and dh, reminder notes stuck on door to garage for dh to take his lunch, notes To Self to make appts.

Llsts, lists and reminder notes to make a list.

Yes, always have for it keeps me grounded and organized in planning. Learned to make lists precise from working.... made a list every day, morning and late day for the next.....always prioritizing as the day progressed!  Nothing changed when retired, still make daily lists...keeps my brain less cluttered!

Add me to the list of list makers.  I don't use my smart phone or devices for lists.  I don't like fiddling around when my small 2 year planner is always handy.  I keep in there appointments, upcoming events, phone numbers, addresses, insurance information and an abundance of other information.   I started carrying this when I was taking on responsibilities for my Uncle who was suffering from dementia and had to add a lot of his data.

If I have a lot of project, such as in the spring.  I do a computer generated list in Notes and print it out.   I will number in order of priority.  I could close it away in the laptop,  but that would be too easy for me to ignore then it sitting on my kitchen table.

When we travel I do a an expansive check list and use it when packing and when returning to ensure I bring back everything I packed.

OMG!  Do I make lists?  You have no idea of the lists I make!  I make lists of the list!  For real!

Doesn't matter!  Doesn't matter at all!  Why?  You ask!  Well, you see mostly I ignore the lists, even the lists of the list (I ignore those too).

I come from a long line of list makers.....and the other list makers take full advantage of their lists....but...do I?  No way!  I'd rather ignore the lists and the lists of the lists!

Am I frustrated that I ignore the lists and the lists of the list?  More frustrated than you can imagine.

Seriously, though.  My daughters and late husband are amazing at making lists, follow through on the lists ..... marking each thing off as accomplished....then making more lists.

Me?  Well, I ignore the lists (all of them) and then eventually throw away the old lists and make more lists (that I'll eventually ignore and throw away too).

This drives those who take notice (my late husband was found yanking on his hair when he found my lists and lists of the lists everywhere around the house)....Hummmm???

I recently visited my daughter in Denver (you guys remember, I've bla blaed enough about it).  OK, so first of all as we'd leave her house she'd say, "You go ahead, get in the car...I've got to get my list...I didn't put it in my phone yet".

Well....humph!  Me being so 'full of myself' I thought (but didn't say out loud) 'Well, my lists are all in my phone....(under notes); so I'M AHEAD OF HER".    I just smiled...(like a good mom).

OK, so being honest here (which I always am)...I left all of the paper lists at home because my purse was getting too heavy from the lists and the lists of the list...Hummm?? Where was I?

Oh!  OK, (hang in there this is almost over).  So, wanna know how this all purging of my confession regarding lists goes?  OK, well......

Remember how I said I put some of the lists in my phone under 'NOTES'?  Well, it seems when it pops up on my phone every day (the time and date I asked my phone to remind me (which was every day)).....it makes a loud beep sound....over and over.

This happened every day while visiting my daughter.  You might think it would bother me, but I'm used to ignoring it (Mom's are good at ignoring things...heh!).

On the other hand my pumpkin (her name is Katie) isn't so good at ignoring sounds (she's not married and no children...thus no practice ignoring everything)...anyway, my Katie says, "Good grief Mom!  What's all that beeping coming from your phone?"

I said, "That's a reminder of what I need to do.  Each individual thing on the list beeps to remind me.  See how organized I am?  Just like you, your sisters and Daddy?"

(Note here.....She was very impressed and said so).

However, it took an ugly turn when all day long (and for the rest of the visit the phone kept beeping; reminding me about the list and the list of the list).....(So sad people....I think I saw her take a tug on her own hair...so frustrated).  It was then I decided I would ....(as soon as I got back to Va) start working on the list and the list of the list......

But....hummmm....you see, I will have to start a new list (forget about the list of the list...not there yet on the NEW list.

Did you catch that?  I said, "The NEW list"!!!  Well, it seems as though the airplane going home was very quiet and the guy next to me was reading and sleeping (not easy to do at the same time, but he tried).....and (are you following this?).

My phone started beeping and beeping and well...(I could swear I saw him take a tug on his hair)...so I did what a good list-maker would do....(NO!  I didn't work on the list ... silly!  I was on the plane...remember?

I deleted the list and the list of the list (it had grown quite large).  One by one I sat on that @#$!!#  plane and deleted both lists.....I know, nice of me huh?

But don't feel sorry for me because I'm a happy camper....I'm back home and making more lists...I haven't quite gotten to the list of the lists yet...but it's a long weekend so I'm sure I'll get around to it....

Now where was that note paper (extra sticky notes I prefer) so I can write down what I hope...no..need to accomplish.....

Phew!  I'm tired just thinking about writing down my long lists....

Thanks for the reminder...I'll make note that you reminded me....Hugs!  Annabelle..

Strangely, I guess, I don't list.  Except for the grocery store - I use my computer/phone to jot down needs through the website and then I go in the store and follow the list, which also tells me what aisle to go to.  My grocery shopping is very organized.

I am less likely to accomplish other things from a written list.  I think it is my rebellious side shining through.  You won't tell me what to do, thank you.  Id to superego or something like that!

For the most part, I keep mental lists and it seems to work.
