Re: Do you get what you pay for?

@Group 5 minus 1  Usually, yes but I know I save best by buying selectively.  I tell myself that when I have to spend to get a deal, I should first decide why or if I need what's being offered.

Generally speaking, I believe that's true.

Yes most of the time.  One of my husband's past bosses had a great quote - Good can be Cheap but Cheap is not always Good.  Those are great words to live by.

Re: Do you get what you pay for?

Generally, in our history that was true.  With this inflation, that is no longer true.

@Group 5 minus 1 Not anymore. The best known, formerly reliable brands are no longer making things with the quality of the past.

There are some very expensive things still being made of high quality materials but there aren't many of them. There are plenty of expensive things that don't last.

I contemplate this a lot, mostly with our home.  Since moving into it 6 years ago, we've been fixing, fixing again, updating and remodeling.  Right now I'm looking for new kitchen faucets.  To replace what I have not would cost $2600 a set and I need three (I have 3 sinks).  There are faucets that are in the thousands and then some as low as $200, all with good reviews.  When remodeling bathrooms, I went the high end route purchasing faucets and they haven't lived up to their price points.  Sometimes I think it's just luck.

@ScrapHappy   Ours is 25 yrs.old and have been paying $$$ toget it ready to sell to downsize. There are guys hammering to repair siding, dormers, outdoor window trim, weather stripping, brick stairs, replacing screens on screened porch...neverending!!!

Ithink with careful searching for good companies, youcan get what paid for, but I always make sure they are bonded.

I always get what I pay. The question is, was it worth it? Not always.
