Texting has its place. The recipient is not put on the spot and can take time answering.  Some things need a discussion, so then all my friends and family or I text to see when it would be a good time to call.  I Facebook message a lot, so I can use my laptop or iPad.

I do text and many times using the button to just voice not type, my  7 y/o granddaughter showed me.  Most of my friends will text since their children and grand kids text them all day so I have found it being easier to get an answer or just a well being "call"!  I am in touch more than I was for years with many friends.

Yes I text for quick answers.

When I want to talk, I'll text someone to call when they can.

@RedTop As another former switchboard operator (though only for 2 years) I completely agree! That job killed my love of talking on the phone.

These days I do text quite a bit, but mostly with my best friend who moved 3 hours away a few years ago. Texts are good for us, because we can answer at our convenience. When someone is busy, a phone call can be an irritation. She's in her car a lot, too, and I don't want to be the cause of an accident, because she WILL answer while driving.

We often carry on full conversations over the course of a day...use full sentences/words, paragraphs, punctuation, everything!

@freakygirl  I'm not a big talker either...unless I'm face to face with someone. On the phone, there are too many awkward pauses, or we interrupt each other too much. It's easier to gauge when to speak if you can see someone's face.

No spring chicken here, but YES...text all the time!

All day at work (to boss, field supervisor etc)

All the time to my family, in town and out of town.

My kids work and have little ones...they don't have time to yak with me on the phone.

A back and forth test session works for all of us.

If my phone rings, it is either spam or an emergency!!!

None of us call otherwise.

I have a cell phone but only use it for emergencies, I hardly ever text I would much prefer email, my whole career was having to use the phone as a collector in accounting, to this day I hate talking on the phone.

I never initiate a text.  When someone sends a text it never ends.  They text, you answer, they text back and it goes on and on.  Just call me!  Texts are ok for a quick response not for a conversation.  Younger generations always text rather than sending a simple email or using the phone.

I text all the time and rarely talk on the phone. I do enjoy talking on the phone, though, and conversations can be an hour or more.

I haven't used email for personal communication in ages. If someone sent me an email, who knows how long it would be until I saw that. You better send me a text to check my email lol

I'll text once in awhile. But I find it rather impersonal as compared to a phone call.
