Ebelskivers is correct. My husband and of course, his mother are from Denmark.
These were talked about quite fondly by the two of them. My mother in law was quite the cook and baker in her day. I can't remember if she had the pan or was trying to find an authentic Danish recipe for them. I don't think I ever had them so I guess neither happened.

Yes, this is an abelskiver iron, I have one and it came with a recipe booklet. I am sure you can find recipes on the internet. They come out small but delicious, I put raspberry jam in the middle of mine.

Its an abelskiver pan. We own several and DH frequently makes them for breakfast. Takes a little learning curve but you can serve them with powdered sugar or many fillings including lemon curd or Nutrella. You can buy them on Amazon or the next time you are in Solvang.

It is not an egg poacher. Poaching requires water.
Without researching, do you know what it is???

SCI Scandicrafts 7-Cup Cast Iron Aebleskiver Pancake Puffs Pan
Aebleskiver is a Danish dessert of sweet, puffy pancake balls cooked in an aebleskiver pan and served hot with syrup, honey, jam, or powdered sugar. In Denmark, aebleskivers are traditionally plated in threes, dusted with powdered sugar, topped or filled with tart jams of Nordic berries and served with mellow Scandinavian coffee.

by Rod Peterson:
This is the best way to cook Aebleskivers because they are supposed to be hollow in the middle with a small opening. The traditional way to spin them is with a knitting needle, but I like the skewers the best..

@ECBGIt is definitely an ebelskiver pan. I have a cast iron one that belonged to my grandmother who was from Denmark. She'd fill the rounded pancakes she made in it with fruit jams and dust the outside with powdered sugar. I used to have her recipe cards, but recipes can also be found online. Enjoy!

Ladies, my very brief research said it was for "pancakes or corn bread".
Many thanks for the extra information! They look delicious!
