smh - Being neighborly and joining a church should be a life-long thing, not just when you need something. I guess you don't believe in helping others along the way, not out of duty but being human, helpful and caring. Furthermore, taxes cover libraries, roads, military/defense, etc so those are rewards they already benefit from.

I hope you mean underserved and not undeserved.

If the government can provide free lunches, subsidized rent, subsidized childcare, free Covid tests and vaccine...they can surely provide for those who have worked, paid taxes, voted, and now depend on SS. It seems that there are those who expect them to just depend on the kindness of strangers. To me that's shameful.

Even thought I have close relatives all around me, I decided to sign up for an Advantage plan which gives me 36 one way trips. Sometimes I use it and sometimes I don't.

What a kind, compassionate faith 🙄

What a weird twist this thread took. @chrystaltree I agree with the poster who thought you should have scheduled the ride a bit earlier.

I agree. Some people are going to be shocked when they get old, aren't as able as they were and folks just say basically: "Deal with it. I can, so can YOU!"

@RetRN Thank You
I'm going to blame auto correct. It happens often, but I usually catch it.

Having an advantage plan that includes transportation is of no use if the senior lives in a small town or city that has no transportation providers.
Even if transportation is available, some outpatient procedures require someone to accompany the patient and often that service is nonexistent.

She's right. I never used it for a doctor's appointment. Just for the mall or to visit my sister and if they were a few minutes late, it didn't matter. I'm usually on it alone. Live and learn. But there's no way I'd ever drive after the dilation with my vision issues. I'm surprised that so many people do it.

Actually there are instances where you will only be released to a family member or friend.
