@Desertdi   Just wanted to let you know that it has chilled down to 88° here today and will be in 70s Monday and Tuesday, with a good chance of rain every day next week!  The monsoon is here.  How about you?

I may actually get to do some things outside that desperately need attention. Ugh, with rain comes weeds.

@Kachina624     The weather forecast is the same for here.    110's until the beginning of the week......then cooling "some".......maybe rain on Wednesday.

The new weather-front is coming in from New Mexico.....usuallly it comes up from "the real" Mexico.

I am having a "hard time" this morning.   THIS computer is almost dead.....hard drive is shot.    I have a NEW one I took out of the box this morning...........It seems I need a ROUTER to connect to the internet..........     so I plugged this old one back in.

I am "unhappy" to say the least with Best Buy.....the only place left around here that sells computers.    First off.....the salesman was a surly jerk.....I ASKED him if everything was included in the box......told him I have a plug in modem, and no WiFi.     He acted annoyed that I even "asked"...........and kept trying to "sell up".     (I bought a Lenova Yoga....for about a grand.....I thought that was good enough for the little I do on a computer.)

Best Buy opens in an hour (10 a.m.)......and I'm going back over there to see WHAT ELSE the guy "forgot" to tell me.

AND......I may have a few "choice words" for them.   Their customer service is atrocious.  If I had treated a customer at the Hilton with such contempt, they would have fired my ass on the spot.

I hope to be re-connected by this afternoon (!)    di

@Desertdi    Sorry to hear you're having a bad day.  I don't blame you, I'd be fit to be tied too.  I've never figured out the difference between a modem and a router but I have a router.

Good luck at Best Buy.  Better ask for the manager.

@Kachina624    Good grief.....an apt building in FL crumbles.....and now a once-in-decades balloon crash.   These are not "normal" times.

Went and bought my router.....and it wouldn't connect to the internet.   I have Cox personal tech service......and they kept transferring me "up the chain"......and finally they decided they have to send someone to the house on Monday.     So.....I connected the old computer again.....and somewhere among the phone transfers......I was cut off from the internet entirely.   Called AGAIN.....and I'm back.    What a day.    I have a MIGRAINE......

Had a really nice salesman at Best Buy this time.    College age guy......so I kept my mouth shut about the rude dude who obviously didn't think an old lady was gonna spend any cash.........

Hope you have a nice weekend before the Monsoon!   Ugh....the humidity, tho.     di

@Desertdi   Aren't computers fun?  You have a good week-end too.  All your problems will work themselves out.

@Kachina624 @Desertdi  here you go...S

The main difference between a modem and a router is that a modem connects you to the Internet and a router distributes the Internet connection to your devices. A router does not connect you to the Internet by itself.

@Lilysmom1   118°F in a B.C. town?    The newscaster said, "This is like science fiction".

@Kachina624    Looks like the weatherman cancelled our rain.

@Desertdi , British Columbia broke every record in it's history yesterday for heat.  I was texting with my brother in Kamloops.  The big fear is low/no rain and an early start to the forest fires with the attendant air quality issues.  He is coming home to Nova Scotia this month.  I plan to work on him to move back home to Nova Scotia now that he is retired and his kids have flown the coop.  S
