Re: December 2024 Bird's Nest

@Snicks1

Hi Snicks ... my granddaughter has joined the ranks of OTR truckers ... she's been doing this now for about a year.  Her base is in Memphis, but she's been just about everywhere.  She'll be spending Christmas here for a few days of much needed down time.

@SoX, good for her. It's a hard job, but good money can be made. I wish her safe travels. Too many on the roadways don't give any thought to what it takes to maneuver those big rigs. Glad she will have some time with you over the holidays.

Hey all

SoX glad your DD is doing well at long haul truck driving. One of the park help where I live is doing those over the road driver classes now-he wants to get out of the park work and go onto better paying job. People have NO idea those trucks are 60 foot of heavy metal and CAN NOT stop on hit of the brakes. Those brake checkers that think it is funny to brake check truckers, should have their behind whooped.

not much today

laundramat run today all folded and put away

dh went out and got low flow shower heads for both bathroom showers- anything to help save water now that it will no longer be included in our rent-head it could be an extra $200 bucks a month for us. don't know if this is true.

ok guys later.

You're right about those big rigs ... one of DGD's supervisors complimented her recently on how well she was able to manuver and park her truck ... that is no small fete.   She really needs a break ... been away from her family for quite some time now.  I'm so glad she'll be joining us for the holidays, if only for a few days.

My girlfriend in Albuquerque just sent me this wall calendar ... I'm sorely tempted to add this trip to my bucket list for 2025 ...

I've lived in Albuquerque since 1995 and I never get tired of the Balloon Fiesta.

Congrats to your granddaughter.  Driving can be a grueling job.

My friends are a husband and wife OTR driving team.  They recently took a leave of absence from their job.  The pay and benefits were good, but they're basically on the road and gone from home for six days a week.  They have some family health problems going on right now and are also trying to get their new home finished and just couldn't manage it all on that schedule.
