Daily Positive Thread for the Fourth of July!!

Hello my friends!  We didn't get to see the twins today as they were having problems with sucking and couldn't nurse and were losing weight, so they were taken to NCIU at noon today.  We got there and visited with Darla and Greg, she feels so bad that they had to be there.  She is pumping and they are getting her milk.  Today she seemed a lot more sore than yesterday.  That big incision will take time to heal.  We just got back from Lori's house with a barbeque and watched the fireworks from her back yard, very good view for them.  Please pray the twins can feed better and gain weight.  Thank you!!  They sure were missed in her room today.

Worry about nothing, pray for everything, and thank God for His answers.

Lord, I ask You to handle my problems with me and care for my needs.

"'When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles
do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask
him.  "Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your
name.  Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.  And do not bring us to the time of
trial, but rescue us from the evil one.  For if you forgive others
their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do
not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
~Matthew 6:7-15

Prayer is of many kinds, but of whatever kind, prayer is the linking
up of the soul and mind to God.  So, if prayer is only a glance of
faith, a look or a word of love, or just a feeling of confidence in
the goodness and purpose in the universe, still the result of that
prayer is added strength to meet all temptations and to overcome them.
Even if no supplication is expressed, all the supply of strength that
is necessary is secured, because the soul, being linked and united to
God, receives from God all spiritual help needed.  The soul, when in
its human body, still needs the things belonging to its heavenly
habitation.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may be taught how to pray.  I pray that I may be linked
through prayer to the mind and will of God.

In hours of Discouragement God Is Our Encouragement

By: Helen Steiner Rice

Sometimes we feel uncertain, and unsure of everything,

afraid to make decisions, dreading what the day will bring....

We keep wishing it were possible to dispel all fear and doubt,

and to understand more readily just what life is all about.......

God has given us the answers which too often go unheeded,

but if we search His promises we'll find everything we need

and seek, to lift our faltering spirits and renew our courage too,

for there is absolutely nothing too much for God to do....
For the Lord is our Salvation and our Strength in every fight we fight.

Our Redeemer, and Protector, our eternal Guiding Light...
He has promised to sustain us, He's our Refuge from all harms,

and underneath this Refuge are His Everlasting Arms....
So cast your burdens on Him, seek His counsel when distressed,

and go to Him for comfort whenever you're lonely and oppressed....
For God is our encouragement in trouble and in trials,

and in suffering and in sorrow He will turn our tears to smiles.

Have A Truly Blessed Week!

A SOLDIER'S PLAYING CARDS

"Friends, this is Tex Ritter with a strange story about a soldier boy and a
deck of cards.

During the North African Campaign, a bunch of soldier boys had been on a
long hike and they arrived in a little town called "Casino." The next
morning being Sunday, several of the boys went to church. A sergeant
commanded the boys in church, and after the Chaplain had read the prayer,
the text was taken up next. Those of the boys who had a prayerbook took them
out; but this one boy only had a deck of cards and so he spread them out.
The Sergeant saw those cards and said, "Soldier, put away those cards!"

After the services were over, the soldier was taken prisoner and taken
before the Provost Marshal. The Marshal asked, "Sergeant, why have you
brought this man here?" "For playing cards in church, sir." "And what have
you to say for yourself, son?" "Much, sir," replied the soldier. The
Marshall said, "I hope so, for if not, I shall punish you more than if any
man was ever punished."

The soldier said, "Sir, I have been on a march for about six days and had
neither bible nor prayer book, but I hope to satisfy you sir, with the
purity of my intentions". With that, the boy started his story:

You see, sir, when I look at the Ace, it reminds me that there is but one
God. And the duce reminds me that the Bible is divided into two parts, the
Old and the New Testament. And when I see the trey, I think of the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

When I see the four, I think of the four evangelists who preached the four
gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And when I see the five it reminds
me of the five wise virgins who trimmed their lamps; there was ten of them:
five were wise and were saved; five were foolish and were shut out.

And when I see the six, it reminds me that in six days God created this
great Heaven and earth, and when I see the seven it reminds me that on the
seventh day God rested from his great work. When I see the eight, I think of
the eight righteous persons God saved when He destroyed the earth: there was
Noah, his wife, their three sons, and their wives.

And when I see the nine, I think of the lepers our Savior cleansed, and nine
of the ten didn't even thank Him. When I see the ten, I think of the ten
commandments God handed down to Moses on a table of stone. When I see the
king, it reminds me that there is but one King of Heaven.God Almighty. And
when I see the queen, I think of the Blessed Virgin Mary who is Queen of
Heaven. And the Jack, or nave, is the Devil.

When I count the numbers of spots on a deck of cards I find three-hundred
sixty five, the number of days in a year. There are fifty two cards, the
number of weeks in a year. There are four suits, the number of weeks in a
month, there are twelve picture cards, the number of months in a year.
There's thirteen tricks, the number of weeks in a quarter.

So you see, sir, my pack of cards serves me as a Bible, almanac, and prayer
book. And friends, I know this story is true, because I was that soldier.

~Tex Ritter

Life Is Too Short

Life is too short to let even one day be frenzied or frazzled or frittered away.

Life is too short not to take time to do the things that will hold the most meaning for you.

So let yourself float like a leaf on a stream, relax with your memories and let yourself dream.

Throw out your list that's impossibly long, and dance a few steps to a favorite song.

Turn off the news and go find someone real who'll listen and talk and affirm what you feel.

Life is too short and flies by if you let it, so choose what you want every day-- and go and get it.

LIVE HAPPY!

Saint Francis Prayer Before the Blessed Sacrament

We adore You,
O Lord Jesus Christ,
in this Church and all the Churches of the world,
and we bless You, because, by Your holy Cross

You have redeemed the world. Amen.

July 3  -  Jesus Calling

"My children make a pastime of judging one another - and themselves. But I am the only capable Judge, and I have acquitted you through My own blood. Your acquittal came at the price of My unparalleled sacrifice. That is why I am highly offended when I hear My children judge one another or indulge in self-hatred. If you live close to Me and absorb My Word, the Holy Spirit will guide and correct you as needed. There is no condemnation for those who belong to Me."

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
—Luke 6:37

Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
—2 Timothy 4:8

He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
—Titus 3:5

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
—Romans 8:1

Thanks, gloriajean, for your thread, and especially the Helen Steiner Rice poem.

Sometimes twins have a slow start, and I'll be sure to say a prayer for them. I'm sure Mom is stressed right now, so prayers for her, too!

Happy Independence Day

I hope you enjoy the festivities, eating, sunshine...however you celebrate.

I'm thankful we live in such a wonderful country. It could be better in many ways but, for the most part, most of us have it pretty good.

Gloria, don't worry about the babies. Both my children did the same. They'll come around. Tell Darla the best thing she can do is to get up and walk. It's painful at first but it will help her

recovery.

Be still, and know.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for the Fourth of July!!

gloriajean - this too shall pass - our oldest was 3-1/2 lbs. and had a feeding tube for 2 months.  Needles and tubes everywhere, it was scary and heartbreaking for weeks.  We could go in and hold him once a day for about 15 minutes.  He couldn't be out of the incubator any longer.  I had an infection and couldn't be out of my hospital bed very long, it was a very stressful time indeed.  It didn't take long, it seems, for him to become our 180 lb. muscle-bound wonderful young man.  They grow up so very fast.

Prayers are headed to the new babies, mom and all of your family.  This is just a small bump in the road, just try to relax and things will straighten out.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for the Fourth of July!!

Thank you all for your encouraging posts!  We just must be patient, right?  And 3suwm5 we welcome you to our thread!!  My former neighbor, too, was a 3 1/2 pound little girl, and she's a fine healthy woman.  But at that weight I bet it sure was hard getting her started with feeding too.

You sure went through a stressful time.  My friend who had a C-section many years ago got an infection and needed to get back in the hospital. Hope this doesn't happen to Darla. Thanks for your post.
