Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends!  I sure was blessed last night when Lori texted me about coming over to use the hot tub, and I should go with her.  I hadn't a swim suit on since my fall, tried it and it went well, and we had such a good time soaking in the hot tub, talking etc, and then swimming in the pool, ending in the hot tub again.  I slept very well last night!!!  She's talking Darla to do this too with us, and it can be mother daughters time!  I really felt blessed!!  Well, today's blessing was I got my apartment thoroughly cleaned - always a blessing!!

When you can't fall asleep, spend the time talking with God and in prayer
you will soon be sleeping.  Lord, next to Your heart, what a safe and restful
place to sleep.

"Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them."
The spirit of God can come upon God's followers when they are all together
at one time, in one place, and with one accord.  When two or three
consecrated souls are together at a meeting place, the spirit of God is there to
help and guide them.  Where any sincere group of people are together,
reverently seeking the help of God, God's power and God's spirit are there to
inspire them.

I pray that I may be in accord with the members of my group.  I pray
that I may feel the strength of a consecrated group.

Being a Better Person - Simple Steps to Take Each Day

By David Nuka

The world has become such a fast-paced and hectic place in which to live and work that many people have forgotten to consider other people. There are so many people today who really only care about themselves and think they should be put above the rest of us. This is why there are so many people who are considering being a better person. Think about the last time you held the door open for someone or let someone go in front of you at the grocery store line. You probably felt so good about yourself. Although this is great, years ago people did not feel this because it was second nature to do these things.

Being a better person does not mean you have to change your entire lifestyle and outlook on life. You just have to make an effort to include a few things into your lifestyle. One of the easiest ways to be a better person in life is by saying please and thank you. There is a reason why children are taught this valuable lesson at such a young age. The more you say these little words, the more they will become automatic. It will get to the point where you do not even have to think about saying them.

Another way you can try being a better person is by being courteous. This can happen in a few different ways. Overall, what you want to do is think about other people and their feelings. If you see someone drop something in front of you, all you have to do is pick it up and give it back to them. They will be appreciative of that because someone was considering them. Another thing you can do that goes a long way in becoming a better person is to follow the golden rule. Only do something to someone if you want it done to yourself.

There are a few other things you can do in your quest of being a better person. The great thing about all of these is that they are simple. You really do not have to go out of your way that much to be a better person in life. You can try smiling more to people, as well as listening to them. So many people do not listen to others because they are so preoccupied or simply do not care. This will show you care about them.

We're now in the season of Thanksgiving where we should give thanks for everything we've been blessed with, let's all give thanks for being a better person than we were yesterday.

"Family That Prays Together Stays Together"

By Bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Heavenly Father, you have given us a model of life in the Holy Family of Nazareth.
Help us, O loving Father to make our family another Nazareth where love, peace and joy reign.
May it be deeply contemplative, intensely Eucharistic and vibrant with joy.
Help us to stay together in joy and sorrow through family prayer. Teach us to see Jesus in the members of our family especially in their distressing disguise.
May the Eucharistic heart of Jesus make our hearts meek and humble like His and help us to carry out our family duties in a holy way.
May we love one another as God loves each one of us more and more each day, and forgive each others´ faults as You forgive our sins. Help us, O loving Father, to take whatever You take with a big smile.
Immaculate heart of Mary, cause of our joy, pray for us
St. Joseph, pray for us
Holy Guardian Angels be always with us, guide and protect us. Amen

We can be thankful that we don't already have everything we desire.
If we did, what would there be to look forward to?
We can be thankful when we don't know something,
for it gives us the opportunity to learn.

We can be thankful for the difficult times. During those times we can grow.
We can be thankful for our limitations,
because they give us opportunities for improvement.
We can be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build our strength and character.

We can be thankful for our mistakes. They can teach us valuable lessons.
We can be thankful when we're tired and weary,
because it means we may have made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
We can find a way to be thankful for our troubles,
and they can become our blessings.

Once upon a time the devil decided to go out of

business. He offered all of his tools for sale.
He attractively displayed the whole bad-looking
lot: Malice, Hatred, Envy, Jealousy.... Each was
marked with a price tag.

Apart from them lay a harmless-looking
wedge-shaped tool, very much worn out, but priced
higher than any of the others. Someone asked the
devil what tool that was. "That's
discouragement," he replied. "But why is it
priced so high?"

"Because," answered the devil, "discouragement is
more useful to me than all the others. With
discouragement I can pry open and get inside a
person's conscience, when I cannot get near him
with any other tools. And once I'm inside his
conscience, I can use him in any way that suits
me best. It is so much worn because I can use it
with nearly anybody, since very few people know
that it belongs to me."

A person is never weaker than when he or she is
fed-up, is down-in-the-dumps. He or she couldn't
care less about anything ... and then anything
can happen - and usually does.

A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell
into the farmer's well. The farmer heard the mule 'braying' -- or
whatever mules do when they fall into wells.

After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with
the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the
trouble of saving.Instead, he called his neighbors together and told
them what had happened...and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury
the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially, the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his
neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back...a thought
struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of
dirt landed on his back... HE SHOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP! This he
did, blow after blow. "Shake it off and step up...shake it off and
step up...shake it off and step up!" he repeated to encourage

No matter how painful the blows, or distressing the situation seemed
the old mule fought "panic" and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND

You're right! It wasn't long before the old mule, battered and
exhausted, stepped triumphantly over the wall of that well!

What seemed like it would bury him, actually blessed him... All
because of the manner in which he handled his adversity. Hey, that's

If we face our problems and respond to them positively and refuse to
give in to panic, bitterness, or self-pity... the adversities that
come along to bury us usually have within them the potential to
benefit and bless us!

Remember that forgiveness -- faith -- prayer -- praise and hope all
are excellent ways to "shake it off and step up" out of the wells in
which we find ourselves!

November 24 - Jesus Calling

"Thankfulness takes the sting out of adversity. That is why I have instructed you to give thanks for everything. There is an element of mystery in this transaction: You give Me thanks (regardless of your feelings), and I give you Joy (regardless of your circumstances). This is a spiritual act of obedience - at times, blind obedience. To people who don't know Me intimately, it can seem irrational and even impossible to thank Me for heartrending hardships. Nonetheless, those who obey Me in this way are invariably blessed, even though difficulties may remain.

Thankfulness opens your heart to My Presence and your mind to My thoughts. You may still be in the same place, with the same set of circumstances, but it is as if a light has been switched on, enabling you to see from My perspective. It is this Light of My Presence that removes the sting from adversity."

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. —Ephesians 5:20 KJV
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. —Psalm 118:1
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence,Lord. —Psalm 89:15
