Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Greetings to all you Positive Pals and Grateful Gals!

Let us all keep Harlene, her husband and her brother in our prayers as their house got broken into today and some valuables stolen.  Let us all pray that the theif gets caught and gets what he deserves!  How scary that is!  My blessing today was Adoration - let's try to post at least one blessing of the day, can we?

No situation is too difficult if God is with you.  Lord, we are a perfect team.
You provide the tools and I provide the labor.

S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"Yet, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand."  ~Isaiah 64:8

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

Molding our lives means cutting and shaping our material into something
good, something which can express the spiritual.  We have been given the
clay out of which we can mold something spiritual.  We can first recognize
the selfishness in our desires and motives, actions and words, and then mold
that selfishness until it is sublimated into a spiritual tool for good.  As
the work of molding proceeds, we can see more and more clearly what must be
done to mold our lives into something even better.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may mold my life into something useful and good.  I pray that
I may not be discouraged by the slow progress that I make.

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
And I don't borrow from the sunshine
'Cause the skies might turn to gray.

And I don't worry about the future,
'Cause I know what Jesus said,
And today I'm gonna walk right beside him
'Cause he's the one who knows what is ahead.

There are things about tomorrow
That I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.

And each step is getting brighter
As the golden stairs I climb.
And every burden is getting lighter
And all the clouds, their silver line.

And, I'll bet the sun it's always shining
And no tears will ever dim the eye
And the ending of the rainbow
Where the mountains, they touch the sky.

There are many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.
Yes I know who holds my hand.

The Flashlight

Most parents have had some experience with kids waking up with bad dreams at some point
or another. If not bad dreams, then surely every parent has had to deal with invisible monsters
hiding in the closet or under the bed.

Recently my wife and I had a bout with our oldest son waking us out of the comfort of our warm
bed to come into his room and scare off something that was fear itself.

It was three in the morning and even though it can be the sweetest word on earth when you get
home from work, it is not so sweet when heard at three in the morning.

"Daddy"

I came into my son's room to see what the problem was. The first time it was, "I think I saw
something." The second time it was, "I think I heard something." The third time it was, "I'm
just scared."

I had to get up early in the morning and go to work. I am a very patient man but my sleepiness
was wearing my patience down. The wee hours of the morning had me delirious so I warned
him, "If you call me one more time, I'm going to give you something to be afraid of."
Two minutes later.

"Daddy"

I came into the room and staying true to my promise, even though it hurt my heart to do so, I
gave him a tap on the leg; after all, I had to get some sleep. Walking back to my bed like a
weary victor of war, I said, "It wasn't easy but that took care of that." Five minutes later.

"Daddy"

I lay in bed for a while at my wit's end on what to do, I had given up.

I knew that if I went and slept in his room with him he would want me to do it every night that he
felt fear. I laid there basking in a feeling of stripped victory. In the stillness of the night, a light
popped on in my head.

It was a literal light. I saw a picture in my head of a flashlight.

I immediately got out of bed, went to the hall closet, got the flashlight out and took it to my son's
room. I handed it to him and told him "Light has a special power to make monsters go away, when
you think you see or hear something just cut the light on and shine it in that direction and whatever
it is will have to go away."

I went back and got into bed with apprehensiveness against getting to sleep too soundly. I listened
for about five minutes then I saw a circle of light shining in my son's room. I waited for that
demanding title of "Daddy," but all I heard was the stillness of the night.

This same principle is true in the lives of adults. Many times, we are afraid of that which can really
do us no harm.

Our flashlight can be knowledge; most of the time we fear what we don't understand. As we become
more enlightened on something that seems scary, peace will come.

The light doesn't really chase away monsters living in the shadows, it just changes our eyesight to see
that the room, the business, the school, the marriage, and the assignment is not as scary as it looked
without the light on.

Whatever you are afraid of, shine some light on it.

August 4

Hold My hand, and walk joyously with Me through this day. Together we will savor the pleasures and endure the difficulties it brings. Be on the lookout for everything I have prepared for you: stunning scenery, bracing winds of adventure, cozy nooks for resting when you are weary, and much more. I am your Guide, as well as your constant Companion. I know every step of the journey ahead of you, all the way to heaven.

You don’t have to choose between staying close to Me and staying on course. Since I am the Way, staying close to Me is staying on course. As you focus your thoughts on Me, I will guide you carefully along today’s journey. Don’t worry about what is around the next bend. Just concentrate on enjoying My Presence and staying in step with Me.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Harlene...Oh my how frightening to discover someone is in your house.  I am so thankful that you are safe and they left.  Hopefully, your local police will do a fast job of catching them and bringing them to justice.    You have been on my mind lately and I was so sad that you lost your dear Boots.  But was thrilled to learn you have a new Baby Boots.   Like you I have held Darla in my prayers for her health issues and for our dear Goria for her needs to be met.  I am thrilled that she is having such a good year with her garden.    I will continue to hold you  up in my prayers.  You are such a special lady.

Hello To All

All continue in my prayers for your concerns.

Harlene, how frightening.  These people will be caught and hopefully there will be some restitution.

My blessing for the day?  It's still early but I'm grateful to be up and moving around with air to breathe and a challenge for this day.  Reminds me that I have enough of what it takes to tackle some things in life.
