Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hello my friends! It sure felt good having the day off today, I did rest - but still tired!  Did some re-arranging things in my china cabinet and cupboards. Had my hair cut and colored this morning - good way to start the day having Georgia come here, and Linda coming up to visit with us. That was nice. Nothing new here today - just another good day of ordinary miracles!! Praise be Jesus!

Unhappiness within comes out in an emotional reaction, unlike the happy person
who is slow to anger. Lord, help me to glow in Your presence so that the heat of
the moment doesn't get to me.

S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; give me an
undivided heart to revere your name."  ~Psalm 86:11

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I believe that life is a school in which I can learn spiritual things.
I can trust in God and God will teach me.  I can listen to God and God can
speak through my mind.  I can commune with God in spite of all opposition
and every obstacle.  There will be days when I will hear no voice in my mind
and when there will come no intimate heart-to-heart communion.  But if I
persist, and make a life habit of schooling myself in spiritual things, God
can be revealed to me in many ways.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may regularly go to school in things of the spirit.  I pray
that I may grow spiritually, by making a practice of all these things.

Symptoms of Inner Peace

A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fear
based on past experiences

An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment

A loss of interest in judging other people

A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others

A loss of interest in conflict

A loss of the ability to worry

Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation

Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature

Frequent attacks of smiling

An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it

Prayer For a Particular Soul

Almighty Eternal God, in Your fatherly goodness, be kind to the soul of Your servant, (Name). Cleanse him/her whom You have called from this world of all his/her faults, take him/her into the Realm of Light and Peace and into the Community of Your Saints, and give him/her his/her share of Eternal Delight in Your Kingdom. God, You Creator and Saviour of all the faithful, forgive all the sins of all Your servants' souls. Let them receive forgiveness through our pious prayer, for which they have always been yearning. For this we pray through Jesus, Our Lord. Amen.

YOUR CROSS

 Whatever your cross
 Whatever your pain
There will always be sunshine
After the rain

 Perhaps you may stumble
 Perhaps even fall
 But God's always there
To help you through it all

May the good Lord give you manifest the blessing that were thrust upon you for you were wonderfully made.

RECIPE FOR KINDNESS
Author Unknown

Fold two hands together
And express a dash of sorrow
Marinate it overnight
And work on it tomorrow.

Chop one grudge in tiny pieces
Add several cups of love
Dredge with a large sized smile
Mix with the ingredients above.

Dissolve the hate within you,
By doing a good deed
Cut in and help your friend
If he should be in need.

Stir in laughter, love an kindness

PIOUS INVOCATIONS

We adore you, O Christ,
and we bless you;
because by your Cross you have redeemed the world.
Heart of Jesus,
I place all my trust in you.
My Jesus Mercy!
Sweet Heart of Mary,
be my salvation!
Jesus, Mary, Joseph,
I give you my heart and my soul.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, assist me in my last agony.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph,
may I breathe out my soul with you in peace.
The Fire
------------

A couple, whom we shall call John and Mary, had a nice
home and two lovely children, a boy and a girl. John
had a good job and had just been asked to go on a
business trip to another city and would be gone for
several days. It was decided that Mary needed an
outing and would go along too. They hired a reliable
woman to care for the children and made the trip,
returning home a little earlier than they had planned.

As they drove into their home town feeling glad to be

back, they noticed smoke, and they went off their
usual route to see what it was. They found a home in
flames. Mary said, "Oh well it isn't our fire, let's
go home."

But John drove closer and exclaimed, "That home

belongs to Fred Jones who works at the plant. He
wouldn't be off work yet, maybe there is something we
could do." "It has nothing to do with us." Protested
Mary. "You have your good clothes on lets not get any
closer."

But John drove up and stopped and they were both

horror stricken to see the whole house in flames. A
woman on the lawn was in hysterics screaming, "The
children! Get the children!" John grabbed her by the
shoulder saying, "Get a hold of yourself and tell us
where the children are!" "In the basement," sobbed the
woman, "down the hall and to the left."

In spite of Mary's protests John grabbed the water

hose and soaked his clothes, put his wet handkerchief
on his head and bolted for the basement which was full
of smoke and scorching hot. He found the door and
grabbed two children, holding one under each arm like
the football player he was. As he left he could hear
some more whimpering. He delivered the two badly
frightened and nearly suffocated children into waiting
arms and filled his lungs with fresh air and started
back asking how many more children were down there.
They told him two more and Mary grabbed his arm and
screamed, "John! Don't go back! It's suicide! That
house will cave in any second!"

But he shook her off and went back by feeling his way

down the smoke filled hallway and into the room. It
seemed an eternity before he found both children and
started back. They were all three coughing and he
stooped low to get what available air he could. As he
stumbled up the endless steps the thought went through
his mind that there was something strangely familiar
about the little bodies clinging to him, and at last
when they came out into the sunlight and fresh air, he
found that he had just rescued his own children.

The baby-sitter had left them at this home while she

did some shopping.

August 22 - Jesus Calling

Trust Me, and don’t be afraid. I want you to view trials as exercises designed to develop your trust-muscles. You live in the midst of fierce spiritual battles, and fear is one of Satan’s favorite weapons. When you start to feel afraid, affirm your trust in Me. Speak out loud, if circumstances permit. Resist the devil in My Name, and he will slink away from you. Refresh yourself in My holy Presence. Speak or sing praises to Me, and My Face will shine radiantly upon you.

Remember that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Me. You have been judged NOT GUILTY for all eternity. Trust Me, and don’t be afraid; for I am your Strength, Song, and Salvation.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
—James 4:7

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
—Romans 8:1–2

“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.”
—Isaiah 12:2

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Harlene, how are you feeling today? Did all go well with your shot yesterday?  Lovely school references Gloriajean.  Start of school yesterday was meetings and more of the same today with students returning Wednesday.  Great day, a bit overwhelming but I loved being back.

Lots of worries here yesterday because a tornado touched down in the town where the museum I work at is and was ever so close to the museum.  They actually closed the street the museum is on due to so much damage. Blessings, no one in Concord, MA was hurt only damage to homes and huge blessing, the museum was not damaged!  I was worried all day and praying all was fine. Lots of clean up for the town and people and while the home damage is upsetting, no one was hurt.  We do nt get tornados around here.

Peace today to all and may the day be filled with many blessings and much joy.  Hope ordinary miracles abound for everyone.

Peace, Nancy

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Good morning!  I really liked "Inner Peace" gloriajean. I'm glad you had a day for yourself yesterday.

@nj, I hate it when the severe weather sirens go off.  I hope everyone there is ok and things get cleaned up fast.

I've been watching all the coverage of Louisiana and what stands out is how positive these people seem to be when they have lost everything and have such hard work ahead of them. I'm not sure I could be that tough.

@lovestopaint, I hope you are doing well today and I'm sure you are happy the shots are behind you.

The weather has taken a welcomed turn here, and we are loving lower temps, cool nights, and low humidity!

Enjoy your day!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hi everyone first of all thank you all for your prayers.

The doctor did take a lot of X Rays on each side to show him where to place the shot.

I must say they way I had to twist my foot was not comfortable.

I felt very good for about two hours, no pain, but later the pain came back and I was very down about that.

This morning I feel pretty good the pain is not completly gone,  but I'd like to give it a week to see if it works completely.

He said it would work for about 4 months if it comes back I will probably have to get another shot.

In the mean time I will stay with my Chiropractor I figure between the two I will get relief.

God willing.

Thanks again.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Good morning ladies -- yesterday just got away from me.  Had too much on my plate.

Gloria - happy you were able to get some rest.

nj - happy to hear there were not injuries.  Buildings can be redone, thankfully.  Good luck with the kiddos coming in tomorrow.

Ruby - it's nice to have some cooler, drier days.  It's a welcomed change.  We have mid-70's today, but breezy, so feels cooler.  Have all the windows open, it feels good.  Fall is just around the corner.

Lovestopaint - I hope the shots kick in a bit more and last beyond 4 months.  Fingers crossed.

HeresLucy - Have a wonderful, blessed day.

My prayers continue for the folks in LA dealing with the awful flooding.  Blessings to all of those in need, all over the world.

Enjoy your day ladies!!

A shout out to 'Life is Good'.  Hope all is well.Woman Happy

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Just wanted to give a shout out to KateE also.  I know you are having a difficult time with the job you just left.  I hope you are feeling better, now that you've been out for a bit. I pray each week is helping you unwind from that difficult situation.  Even if you don't feel like you can post, I hope you continue checking in and keeping up with all of us; sometimes silly, sometimes sad, sometimes funny and always inspirational tidbits in here.  We all try our best to ignore the abrasive, nasty comments that anyone might post toward any or all of us.

Hi Nancy - Now that school is starting, you won't be working at the museum during the school year?  Tornadoes are alway scary when they touch down.  When there's a threat to one, I always sprinkle Holy Water around our place, and light a blessed candle too.  Hope you had some ordinary miracles today!
