Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends! I'm a little late here tonight because I went swimming with Linda and her grandchild for awhile. She can go in the pool and hot tub until next week when she gets ports put in for cancer drops, etc. then she can't anymore until this new cancer treatment is over, it's only 3 weeks old, a strong new drug they started on her yesterday already. So strong that she cannot touch anyone, no hugs, no nothing, she was told. We don't know how long.  Also let's keep ShowMe in prayer too. I wish she'd come here and post with us.

As we help those in need or comfort those in trouble, God's great love and divine

glory is revealed to the world.  Lord, I am Your servant.  May others know more

of You through me.

"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a
wise man who built his house on rock.  The rain fell, the floods came, and
the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had
been founded on rock."  ~Matthew 7:24-25

Every strong and beautiful flower must have a strong root in the ground. It
can send a root down so that it may be rooted and grounded while at the same
time it sends a shoot up to be the flower that gladdens the world.  Both
growths are necessary.  Without a strong root, it would soon wither.  The
higher the growth upward, the deeper must be the rooting.  My life cannot
flower into success and helpfulness unless it is rooted in a strong faith. I
can feel deeply secure in the goodness and purpose of the universe.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that my life may be deeply rooted in faith.  I pray that I may feel
deeply secure.

A LORD'S PRAYER FOR JUSTICE

In our scheme of things, survival of the fittest is the rule. In God's scheme, survival of the weakest is the rule. God always stands on the side of the weak, and it is there - among the weak - that we find God!

Our Father…

Who always stands with the weak, the powerless, the poor, the abandoned. This is the insight of the saints.

Who art in heaven…

Where everything will be reversed, upside down, where the first will be last, and the last will be first.

Hallowed be Thy Name…

May we acknowledge your holiness; your ways are not our ways.

Your Kingdom come…

Help us to create a world where we will walk justly, speak tenderly, and walk humbly with you and with each other.

Your will be done…

Open our freedom to let you in, so that the complete mutuality that characterizes your life may flow through our veins.

On earth as in heaven…

May the work of our hands reflect the justice of heaven.

Give…

Life and love to us, and help us always to see everything as a gift. Help us to know that nothing comes to us by rights, and that we must give because we have been given to.

Us…

The truly plural 'us'. Give, not just to our own, but to everyone including those who are very different from the narrow 'us'.

This day…

Not tomorrow. Do not let us put things off into some indefinite future, so that we can continue to live justified lives in the face of injustice.

Our daily bread…

So that each person in the world may have clean air, pure water, enough food, health care, access to education, and so have the basis of a healthy life.

And forgive us our trespasses…

Forgive us our blindness towards our neighbour, our obsessive pre-occupation, our racism. Forgive us our capacity to watch the evening news and do nothing about it.

As we forgive those who trespass…

Help us to forgive those who victimize us. Help us to mellow our spirit, to not grow bitter with age, to forgive the imperfect parents, the family or the community that wounded us.

And do not put us to the test…

Do not judge only by whether we have fed the hungry, given clothes to the naked, visited the sick, or tried to mend the systems that victimized the poor. Spare us this test, for none of us can stand before this gospel scrutiny. Give us instead more days to mend our ways, our selfishness and our systems.

But deliver us from evil…

Deliver us from the blindness that lets us continue to participate in anonymous systems within which we need not see who gets less as we get more.

Amen

Gentle Jesus

Gentle Jesus, meek and mild
Look upon a little child,
Pity mine and pity me,
Suffer me to come to thee.
Heart of Jesus, I adore you,
Heart of Mary, I implore you,
Heart of St Joseph, pure and just,
In these three hearts, I put my trust.

Amen

Recipe for a Happy New Year

Take 12 fine, full-grown months; see that these are thoroughly cleansed from all old memories of bitterness, rancor, hate, and jealousy.

Cut these months into 30 or 31 equal parts. (This batch will keep for one year. Do not attempt to make more than one batch at a time-many people spoil the entire lot in this way.)

Prepare one day at a time as follows: Into each day, put 12 parts of faith, 11 of patience, 10 of courage, nine of work (some people omit this ingredient and spoil the flavor of the rest), eight of hope, seven of fidelity, six of open-mindedness, five of kindness, four of rest (leaving this out is like leaving the oil out of the salad-don't do it), three of prayer, two of meditation, and one of well-selected resolution.

If you have no conscientious scruples, add a teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

Pour love liberally into the whole, and mix with vim. Cook thoroughly in a fervent heat. Garnish with a few smiles and a sprig of joy; then serve with quietness, unselfishness, and cheerfulness-and a Happy New Year is a certainty.

God whispers in your soul and speaks to your mind. Sometimes when you
don't
have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at you. It's your
choice:
Listen to the whisper, or wait for the brick.

Don't Ever Forget

Your presence is a gift to the world,

You're unique and one of a kind.
Your life can be what you want it to be -
Take it one day at a time.

Count your blessings, not your troubles,
And you'll make it through what comes along.
Within you are so many answers,
Understand, have courage, be strong.

Don't put limits on yourself,
Your dreams are waiting to be realized.
Don't leave your important decisions to chance -
Reach for your peak, your goal, and your prize.

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying -
The longer a problem is carried, the heavier it gets.
Don't take things too seriously -
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way -
Remember that a lot goes forever.
Remember that friendship is a wise investment,
Life's treasures are people... together.

Have health and hope and happiness,
Take the time to wish on a star.
And don't ever forget for even a day...
How very special YOU are!

December 30 - Jesus Calling

I am leading you along a way that is uniquely right for you. The closer to Me you grow, the more fully you become your true self—the one I designed you to be. Because you are one of a kind, the path you are traveling with Me diverges increasingly from that of other people. However, in My mysterious wisdom and ways, I enable you to follow this solitary path while staying in close contact with others. In fact, the more completely you devote yourself to Me, the more freely you can love people.

Marvel at the beauty of a life intertwined with My Presence. Rejoice as we journey together in intimate communion. Enjoy the adventure of finding yourself through losing yourself in Me.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
—2 Corinthians 5:17

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
—Ephesians 2:10

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
—1 John 4:7–8

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”
—John 15:4
