Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends!  Our friend and fellow poster, Julie, said she'd try to get the thread out the next two nights for me.  Hope she can do the copying and pasting and not have to type it.  We did get good news today, not the house, but Darla did get the offer for the job, but it is $12,000 less than what she's making, yet, we think she's considering it, the Dean was her professor there, and he's really nice. The job starts in September, and they have a house to sell.  She will be in our town, and what a blessing that would be for us!! He'll be close to his brother and parents too. He can work from home, so he can be anywhere.  We think she'll accept the offer just to be close to family again after six years in Texas.  We continue to pray.

You can never sincerely help others without also helping yourself.  Lord, Your

generosity touches every part of my life even when I least expect it.  May I not

let it go unnoticed and not give thanks.

S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will
not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will
be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running
over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the
measure you get back."  ~Luke 6:37-38

We can try not to give way to criticism, blame, scorn or judgment of
others, when we are trying to help them.  Effectiveness in helping
others depends on controlling ourselves.  We may be swept away by a
temporary natural urge to criticize or blame, unless we keep a tight
rein on our emotions.  We can have a firm foundation of spiritual living
which makes us truly humble, if we are going to really help other
people.  We can go easy on them and be hard on ourselves.  That is the
way we can be used most to uplift a despairing spirit.  We need not seek
personal recognition for what we are used by God to accomplish.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may try to avoid judgment and criticism.  I pray that I
may always try to build up others instead of tearing them down.

ANGEL IN THE CLASSROOM
Author Unknown

A pastor read a letter from an elementary school teacher who attends
East Hill Church. The gist of the letter was as follows:

Last school year, her classroom was made up of little third graders,
every one of which came from either a single parent family, or a
dysfunctional family, was undernourished and/or uncared for, lived in
an abusive home and was either beaten, bruised, or raped by other
family members; one little girl's dad died of aids, and the list goes
on. Her heart bled for these kids.

Before the '99-2000 school year started, she and her husband went to
her classroom and prayed over each desk in the room. They prayed that
God would place an angel behind each and every child throughout the
coming year to watch over them and protect them. A month or so after
the year had started, she gave the kids an assignment to write about
what they would like to be when they grew up. Everybody was busy with
his or her assignment, when "Andrew" raised his hand. When she asked
him what he needed, he asked how to spell mighty." After telling him
how to spell mighty, she asked him why he needed to know. Andrew said
it was because when he grew up he wanted to be a "mighty man of God."
When he said this, little "Mark" sitting next to him asked, "So,
what's a mighty man of God?" The teacher, swallowing back her tears,
and knowing she could not say anything in the classroom, told Andrew
to go ahead and tell Mark what it was. So Andrew says, "It's a man who
puts on the armor of God and is a soldier for God." After observing
some conversation between Andrew and Mark, the teacher, with a lump in
her throat, started to walk

away when Andrew motioned with his little forefinger for her to come
closer. He whispered to her, asking if she believed in angels. She
told him yes, she did. Then he asked her if she thought people could
see angels, and she said she thought some people probably could.
Andrew said that he did, and he could see an angel standing behind
each kid in the room . . . . . .

I don't think there was a dry eye in the church that night! We need to
remember to pray for all of the teachers, that although there is no
prayer in school, that they are dedicated enough to pray for the
protection of God's angels over the lives of their students. Maybe it
wouldn't hurt, even
at work.

Righteous VS. Unrighteous Planting

If you plant honesty, You will reap trust
If you plant goodness, You will reap friends
If you plant humility, You will reap greatness
If you plant perseverance, You will reap victory
If you plant consideration, You will reap harmony
If you plant hard work, You will reap success
If you plant forgiveness, You will reap reconciliation
If you plant openness, You will reap intimacy
If you plant patience, You will reap improvements
If you plant faith, You will reap miracles

But

If you plant dishonesty, You will reap distrust.
If you plant selfishness, You will reap loneliness
If you plant pride, You will reap destruction
If you plant envy, You will reap trouble
If you plant laziness, You will reap stagnation.
If you plant bitterness, You will reap isolation
If you plant greed, You will reap loss
If you plant gossip, You will reap enemies
If you plant worries, You will reap wrinkles
If you plant sin, You will reap guilt

So be careful what you plant now,
It will determine what you will reap tomorrow,
The seeds you now scatter, Will make life worse or better,
for your life or the ones who will come after.
Yes, someday, you will enjoy the fruits,
Or you will pay for the choices you plant today.

Prayer to Saint Anthony of Padua

Dear Saint Anthony, you are the patron of the poor and the helper of all who seek lost articles. Help me to find the object I have lost so that I will be able to make better use of the time I will gain for God's greater honor and glory. Grant your gracious aid to all people who seek what they have lost - especially those who seek to regain God's grace. Amen.

July 1  - Divine Mercy in My Soul - St. Faustina's Diary

To stay at Your feet, O hidden God,
Is the delight and paradise of my soul.
Here, You give me to know You, O incomprehensible One,
And You speak to me sweetly: Give Me, Give Me your heart.

Silent conversation, alone with You,
Is to experience what heavenly beings enjoy,
And to say to God, "I will, I will give You my heart, O Lord,"
While You, O great and incomprehensible One accept it graciously.

Love and sweetness are my soul's life,
And Your unceasing presence in my soul.
I live on earth in constant rapture,
And like a Seraph I repeat, "Hosanna!"

O You Who are hidden, body, soul, and divinity,
Under the fragile form of bread,

You are my life from Whom springs an abundance of graces;
And, for me, You surpass the delights of heaven.

When You unite Yourself with me in Communion, O God,
I then feel my unspeakable greatness,
A greatness which flows from You, O Lord, I humbly confess,
And despite my misery, with Your help, I can become a saint.      (1718)

July 1  - Jesus Calling

“I AM LIFE AND LIGHT IN ABUNDANCE. As you spend time “soaking” in My Presence, you are energized and lightened. Through communing with Me, you transfer your heavy burdens to My strong shoulders. By gazing at Me, you gain My perspective on your life. This time alone with Me is essential for unscrambling your thoughts and smoothing out the day before you.

Be willing to fight for this precious time with Me. Opposition comes in many forms: your own desire to linger in bed, the evil one’s determination to distract you from Me, the pressure of family, friends, and your own inner critic to spend your time more productively. As you grow in your desire to please Me above all else, you gain strength to resist these opponents. Delight yourself in Me, for I am the deepest Desire of your heart.”

Psalm 48:9 – Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.

Deuteronomy 33:12 – About Benjamin he said: “Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.”

Psalm 37:4 – Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Gloria I know that might be hard to take for Darla,  but on the positive side they would both be home, and close to their families.

I know that would mms make you and Linus happy too.

Blessings to all.

Gloria, I'm thrilled that Darla was offered the job. It's up to her now. Thank you Lord for answering all of the prayers for her to have this oppurtunity. pinky

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

I thought I'd post a picture of one of the Alpacas from the farm up the road from me. She put his picture on facebook and said he'd rather eat the grass from the cracks than out in the pasture. He's so cute.
