Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends!  PT this morning went fine.  Next appt. will be a week from tomorrow - Friday the 8th. Linus has his that day too.  I have to do 20 repitations of lifting my leg up while having a ball or pillow to hold the knee up. A pillow rolled up to be the size of a volley ball. She used a ball.  Only once a day.  First exercise.

She doesn't hurt it at all, she's very gentle and that's a great blessing!  I found out that on the lap top which is wonderful to have, has its shift key on the right side further than my little finger can reach, so it reaches the page up button, and brings up the page - so I have to watch that.  Stop when it comes to that shift key, and just do that key with the captital letter and then go on with the rest.  Anyone else out there have a laptop that has the shift key so far out? Maybe you have longer finger span and it works for you.

Just little things that I am finding out with the new lap top.  Nothing I can do about that though.  Also I wonder if there's any way that the color on it can be brighter.  Mine is dull.  But it works.  Today's blessings - Fr. Jerry came today and we had a Mass in our apartment - what a true blessing that is for us!

Made chicken soup, and had a nice visit with him too.

Tomorrow back at Darla's house - twin duty. Then a long weekend - back there next Tuesday and Thursday, and that's all for next week there.  Greg's Mom takes the other days I need to take off. May you all have special blessings on your Friday!!

Begin each day with the certainty that today is the best day of your life
and watch what happens.  Lord, I celebrate my life and give thanks for
everything because for everything there is a reason.

rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your
strength." ~Isaiah 30:15

Confidence means to have faith in something.  We could not live without
confidence in others.  When we have confidence in God's grace, we can
face whatever comes.  When we have confidence in God's love, we can be
serene and at peace.  We can rest in the faith that God will take care
of us.  We can try to rest in God's presence until God's life-power
flows through us.  We can be still and in that stillness the still,
small voice will come.  It can speak in quietness to the human mind that
is attuned to its influence.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may find strength today in quietness.  I pray that I may
be content today that God will take care of me.

ALL HE HAD TO OFFER

Here is a story, about a nine year old boy who lived in a rural town
in Tennessee. His house was in a poor area of the community. A church
there had a bus ministry that came knocking on his door one Saturday
afternoon.

The child came to answer the door and greeted the bus pastor.

The bus pastor asked if his parents were home and the small boy told
him that his parents take off every weekend and leave him at home to
take care of his little brother. The bus pastor couldn't believe what
the child said and asked him to repeat it. The youngster gave the same
answer and the bus pastor asked to come in and talk with him. They
went into the living room and sat down on an old couch with the foam
and springs exposed. The bus pastor asked the child, "Where do you go
to church?"

The young boy surprised the visitor by replying, "I've never been to
church in my whole life." The bus pastor thought to himself about the
fact that his church was less than three miles from the child's
house.

"Are you sure you have never been to church?" he asked again.

"I'm sure I haven't," came his answer.

Then the bus pastor said, "Well, son, more important than going to
church, have you ever heard the greatest love story ever told?" and
then he proceeded to share the Gospel with this little nine year old
boy.

The young lad's heart began to be tenderized and at the end of the bus
pastor's story, the bus pastor asked if the boy wanted to receive this
free gift from God. The youngster exclaimed, "OF COURSE!"

The child and the bus pastor got on their knees and the lad invited
Jesus into his little heart and received the free gift of salvation.
They both stood up and the bus pastor asked if he could pick the child
up for church the next morning.

"Sure," the nine year old replied.

The bus pastor got to the house early the next morning and found the
lights off. He let himself in and snaked his way through the house and
found the little boy asleep in his bed. He woke up the little boy and
his brother and helped get them dressed. They got on the bus and ate a
doughnut for breakfast on their way to church.

Keep in mind that this boy had never been to church before.

The church was a real big one. The little child just sat there,
clueless of what was going on. A few minutes into the service, these
tall unhappy guys walked down to the front and picked up some wooden
plates. One of the men prayed and the child, with utter fascination,
watched them walk up and down the aisles. He still didn't know what
was going on. Suddenly, like a bolt of lightning, it hit the child
what was taking place.

These people must be giving money to Jesus. He then reflected on the
free gift of life he had received just twenty-four hours earlier. He
immediately searched his pockets, front and back, and couldn't find a
thing to give Jesus.

By this time the offering plate was being passed down his aisle and,
with a broken heart, he just grabbed the plate and held on to it. He
finally let go and watched it pass on down the aisle. He turned around
to see it passed down the aisle behind him.

And then his eyes remained glued on the plate as it was passed back
and forth, back and forth all the way to the rear of the sanctuary.

Then he had an idea. This little nine year old boy, in front of God
and everybody, got up out of his seat. He walked about eight rows
back, grabbed the usher by the coat and asked to hold the plate one
more time. Then he did the most astounding thing I have ever heard of.
He took the plate, sat it on the carpeted church floor and stepped
into the center of it.

As he stood there, he lifted his little head up and said, "Jesus, I
don't have anything to give you today, but just me. I give you me!"

Our Greatest Wealth

We are born with two eyes in front because we must not always look behind, but see what lies ahead beyond ourselves.

We are born to have two ears -- one left, one right -- so we can hear both sides, collect both the compliments and criticisms, to see which are right.

We are born with a brain concealed in a skull... then no matter how poor we are, we are still rich, for no one can steal what our brain contains, packing in more jewels and rings than you can think.

We are born with two eyes, two ears, but one mouth... for the mouth is a sharp weapon. It can hurt, flirt, and kill. Remember our motto: talk less, listen and see more.

We are born with only one heart... deep in our ribs it reminds us to appreciate and give love from deep within.

Prayer of Self Surrender

Lord, what do you want me to do?
What decision do you want me to make?
Where do you want my life to go?
The only way I can decide, Lord, is to put myself in your hands.
Like a potter takes clay and makes something of it,
Like you took a rib and made a woman,
Take me and give me whatever shape you want.
Or if you want, break the clay to pieces and start over again.
Do with me whatever you want.

It doesn't matter if I am loved or hated,
praised or calumniated, consoled or friendless.
What matters is that your will be done in me.
Help me to follow the example of your Mother
and say "Let it be done to me according to your Word."

I'm not looking for any big sacrifice, Lord,
or any heavy cross. Something like that would
only make me proud. Help me to do your will in little things.
To put up with misunderstandings, rash judgments,
confusion and frustration. To be patient and peaceful
with the jerks who drive me crazy.

Let me love you by doing the little things that will
not bring me any satisfaction. Amen.

Thank you for the values of life you taught me

Many years ago when I was about 10, I remember coming home from school and heading straight to the cookie jar. When I lifted the lid I found a little scrap of paper taped to the inside of the jar lid. In my mom's handwriting it said, "Myself Third".

I didn't think anything about it but when I went to the cupboard to get a glass for my milk, there was another note that said, "Myself Third". It still didn't make much of an impression on me until I went to the bathroom and when I lifted the lid, there was the same message taped on the underside of the toilet lid. Now my curiosity was beginning to get to me and the hunt was on to see where else I could find that strange message. It was everywhere. In the closet, in my sock drawer, on the stove top, under plates, just about everywhere I looked. I finally found my mother and asked about this strange note.

She said she was thinking about life and decided that she should always consider herself last. God first, others second and myself third. What a great way to put things in to proper order. Thank you Mom for that fantastic message. Mom lived to be 95 and never changed her outlook on life and God. She was the most religious person I know and if she is not in Heaven now then there is no Heaven.

I am now 66 years old and when I turned 50, and was given the big "50" birthday party, I was asked to say something, I had only one thing to say and it was to my mother, I said, "Mom, 50 years and nine months ago, thank you for not saying no."

She said, "You're welcome, son". Now I say to you, mom, "Thank you for the values of life you taught me and I will always try to think of myself as Myself Third."

Seek Me with your whole being. I desire to be found by you, and I orchestrate the events of your life with that purpose in mind. When things go well and you are blessed, you can feel Me smiling on you. When you encounter rough patches along your life-journey, trust that My Light is still shining upon you. My reasons for allowing these adversities may be shrouded in mystery, but My continual Presence with you is an absolute promise. Seek Me in good times; seek Me in hard times. You will find Me watching over you all the time.

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.
—Deuteronomy 4:29

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
—Hebrews 10:23

The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Love the prayer and meditation of the day so much!  I need to have more confidence in myself and in God.  I worry so much and need to try and let some of it at least go to God.  Never easy for me.  My faith needs to be stronger for sure.  Thank you for this today.

Have a blessed day and may it be your best yet.  Embrace it all and keep your eyes and heart open for the ordinary miracles that come your way.

Happy Friday and enjoy the long weekend!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

@gloriajean, I had a Sunday school teacher who taught us the exact same thing as the mom in "Thank You for the Values..."  This was back in the early 1960s, and she still receives letters of thanks from "her kids."

I don't have a clue how to fix the brightness on your laptop. I have an iPad and when I was working, IT took care of all that stuff. Maybe someone here will have an idea.

@nj, I'm a worrier, too, so I feel your pain!

@lovestopaint, I'm glad you're doing better.

Thanks, @meallen616, for our Friday picture.

I'm off to the grocery store soon. We're going to have another day in the 70s, so I plan to be outside doing yard work. Yesterday was cloudy and breezy wth a hint of fall!

May God stay close to everyone in Florida and the east coast.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Good morning ladies -- today we have a cool start, storms in the forecast for tonight.  I'm sure nothing like the east coast.  God bless those folks.

Thank you for the beautiful messages and picture.  I ask you today for prayers to my dear friend who is battling cancer the last 2 years plus.  I spoke with her last night and she is struggling so with chemo treatments and so much pain.  She has been so strong with all the ups and downs, new drugs, radiation that lead her to puree all foods, to keep from having a feeding tube.  She is back to threats of a feeding tube and more new drugs.  I feel so helpless, so many miles away and can't help physically.

I pray for her often and so admire her strong fight, even though there have been no improvements for her.  I hope this last drug on her current protocol will show some improvement.  If not, she can be put on some new trial drugs and they begin to work.  I know God works in many ways and is helping her stay so strong.  I continue to pray that his strength covers her suffering.

For all my fellow posters here, I wish you a wonderful, blessed weekend for all your adventures.

May God bless us all and thank you for your prayers.Woman HappyHeartHeart
