Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! Wishing you all a good day - hope all is going well.  Let's never forget to count our blessings each day - and give God the credit where credit is due.  Praise the Name of the Lord!

When you have faith in yourself and God, you will know that you are loved
and safe and never alone. Lord, I am these things because You are always
with me.

"If God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow
is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you--you of little
faith!  And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you are to
drink, and do not keep worrying.  For it is the nations of the world that
strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
Instead, strive for his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as
well."  ~Luke 12:28-31

I know that God cannot teach anyone who is trusting in a "crutch."  I can
throw away the worldly things I have come to depend upon and walk in God's
power and spirit.  God's power can so invigorate me that I can indeed walk
on to victory.  There is never any limit go God's power.
I can go step by step, one day at a time.  God's will can be revealed to me as
I go forward.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may have more and more dependence on God.  I pray that I may
throw away the "crutches" I sometimes rely upon and let God's power take
their place.

Lent Day 16
Like a Flash of Lightning

One of the key visuals in the story of the Transfiguration is the divine light that radiates from Jesus. Matthew says, “His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.” Luke reports, “His clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.” And Mark says, “His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.”

This light seems to signal the beauty and radiance of a world beyond this one, a world rarely seen, and only occasionally glimpsed, amidst the griminess and ordinariness of this world.

Is this beautiful and radiant world ever seen today? Let me share a few stories with you. When I was traveling recently, I met a man who, as a young man, encountered St. Padre Pio, the famous stigmatist. He was privileged to serve his Mass. During the elevation of the host, after the consecration, this man noticed something remarkable: there was a glow around the holy man’s hands. Years later when he heard reports of “auras” he said to himself, “That’s what I saw that day.”

Malcolm Muggeridge, the English journalist and convert to Catholicism, was filming Mother Teresa for a documentary. One day, the electricity was out, and he bemoaned the fact that he had to film her without lights, convinced that the day would be lost. But when the film was developed, he noticed that the scenes were beautifully lit, and it appeared as though the light was coming from her.

And I know this might be a bit of a stretch, but there is scientific speculation that the marks on the shroud of Turin, the holy icon thought by many to be the burial shroud of Christ, were caused by a burst of radiant energy—light energy.

From the time of the earliest disciples, the holy followers of Jesus were pictured with halos above their heads. What is a halo if it is not the divine light breaking into our world today?

A Prayer for Lent

Dear Lord, let me not jump to conclusions about others, let me not judge by appearances, by manner or by circumstances. Let me show compassion and love to those less fortunate than I, because, there but for the Grace of God go I. Let me not criticise others for their actions but rather place them in Your care with my prayers. Keep me from gossip, that most evil of sins, and let my words about others be only of praise for the Christ within them. You are the potter, Lord, and through You the broken pot can be re-modelled and moulded into Your precious child again.

Enough

Dear God,

Please give me...

Enough tears to keep me human,

Enough humor to keep me wise,

Enough setbacks to keep me humble,

Enough accomplishments to keep me confident,

Enough waiting to teach me patience,

Enough hope to teach me trusting,

Enough friends to give me love,

Enough memories to give me comfort.

KEYS FOR LIVING
Author Unknown

1. The best way to get even is to forget...

2. Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death...

3. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts...

4. Some folks wear their halos much too tightly...

5. Some marriages are made in heaven, but they ALL have to be
maintained on earth...

6. Unless you can create the WHOLE universe in 5 days, then perhaps
giving "advice" to God isn't such a good idea!

7. Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, and faith looks up...

8. Standing in the middle of the road is dangerous. You will get
knocked down by the traffic from both ways.

9. Words are windows to the heart.

10. A skeptic is a person who, when he sees the handwriting on the
wall, claims it's a forgery.

11. It isn't difficult to make a mountain out of a molehill just add a
little dirt.

12. A successful marriage isn't finding the right person-it's being
the right person.

13. The mighty oak tree was once a little nut that held its ground.

14. Too many people offer God prayers, with claw marks all over them.

15. The tongue must be heavy indeed, because so few people can hold
it.

16. To forgive is to set the prisoner free, and then discover the
prisoner
was you.

17. You have to wonder about humans, they think God is dead and Elvis
is alive!

18. It's all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again. Just
be sure to flush when you are done.

19. You'll notice that a turtle only makes progress when it sticks out
its neck...

20. If the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, you can
bet the water bill is higher.

And last but not least -- God gave the angels Wings, and He gave
humans CHOCOLATE.

"The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the
distance between your knees and the floor.

The one who kneels to the Lord can stand up to anything."

You are richer today if you have laughed, given or forgiven.

THE HOMELESS MAN

It was a cold winter's day that Sunday. The parking lot to the church was filling up quickly. I noticed as I got out of my car that fellow church members were whispering among themselves as they walked to the church. As I got closer I saw a man leaned up against the wall outside the church.  He was almost laying down as if he was asleep.  He had on a long trench coat that was almost in shreds and a hat topped his head, pulled down so you could not see his face.

He wore shoes that looked 30 years old, too small for his feet with holes all over them, his toes stuck out. I assumed this man was homeless, and asleep, so I walked on by through the doors of the church.  We all fellowshipped for a few minutes, and someone brought up the man laying outside. People snickered and gossiped but no one bothered to ask him to come in, including me.

A few moments later church began. We all waited for the Preacher to take his place and to give us the Word, when the doors to the church opened. In came the homeless man walking down the aisle with his head down. People gasped and whispered and made faces.  He made his way down the aisle and up onto the pulpit he took off his hat and coat.

My heart sank.

There stood our preacher...he was the "homeless man." No one said a word. The preacher took his Bible and laid it on the stand. "Folks, I don't think I have to tell you what I am preaching about today." Then he started singing the words to this song. "If I can help somebody as I pass along.  If I can cheer somebody with a word or song. If I can show somebody that he's traveling wrong. Then my living shall not be in vain."

Verse of the Day

"Thus says God, the Lord, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people upon it and spirit to those who walk in it: I am the Lord, I have called you in righteousness, I have taken you by the hand and kept you; I have given you as a covenant to the people, a light to the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness."

Isaiah 42:5-7

February 25 - Jesus Calling

Rest in My Presence, allowing Me to take charge of this day. Do not bolt into the day like a racehorse suddenly released. Instead, walk purposefully with Me, letting Me direct your course one step at a time. Thank Me for each blessing along the way; this brings Joy to both you and Me. A grateful heart protects you from negative thinking. Thankfulness enables you to see the abundance I shower upon you daily. Your prayers and petitions are winged into heaven’s throne room when they are permeated with thanksgiving. In everything give thanks, for this is My will for you.

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
—Colossians 4:2

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
—1 Thessalonians 5:18

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Good morning,

I'm up way too early so I thought I'd drop by to say hello.

I count my blessings every day, I've so much to be thankful for. Waking up is a blessing.

I pray for our country, our world, all its people. I pray the Lord will guide us in our decision as we elect a new President. That's all I'll say about that. Don't want to get banned. LOL.
