Daily Inspirations for Thursday

Greetings to all!!  Today I spent time in reorganizing drawers again, this time in the guest bedroom closet, and I found there are some tupperware and locknlocks with no covers that sadly I have to throw out.  So out they go and not clutter up the drawers.  I do enjoy reorganizing things to make them more convenient.  I get ideas and then follow through.  Can hardly wait for my empty spice jars to arrive, the rack came already, but I need to fill it up!!!

God bless you all!!

When your world turns upside down and everything seems so frightening,
thank God for His unchanging and constant love. Lord, Your love is the same
yesterday, today and tomorrow. In You I am safe and cared for.

"He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and
multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your
righteousness.  You will be enriched in every way for your great
generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the
rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints
but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God."  ~2 Corinthians
9:10-12

I believe that God had already seen my heart's needs before I cried to
God, before I was conscious of those needs myself.  I believe that God
was already preparing the answer.  God does not have to be petitioned
with sighs and tears and much speaking before God reluctantly looses
the desired help.  God has already anticipated our every want and
need.  I can try to see this, and humbly receive all that God has to
offer me.

I pray that I may understand my real wants and needs.  I pray that my
understanding of those needs and wants may help to bring the answer to
them.

I met God in a seven-year-old girl Father Patrick Bridgeman, diocesan priest

As the sun rises over St Mary's and into St Joseph's playground the presence of God in the world is obvious. Ahead is a day with some time planned and other time available for what will occur.

In the 17 months since ordination, I have realised that God's presence will come in many varied forms. As I visit St Joseph's school I have met God through the children.

Once during question time a boy asked me if it was lonely not having a wife and children. Looking around at this class of bright- eyed seven-yearolds the thought did enter my mind "Yes, sometimes it would be good to be Dad."

And then a girl spoke up : "Never be lonely Father Patrick, we are all your children!" On a simple class visit, there I met God in a seven-year-old girl.

Visits to the sick, in hospital and at home, are further times when God makes his presence felt through the Eucharist or the oil of anointing. I come to minister to those in need and yet it is always me who goes away ministered to by those I came to visit through the examples of faith in suffering and their hope in situations of despair. I am given examples of how I could also be in the unexpected knock on the door and the person who pours out their life to me, a person they have never met. I realise the trust that has been placed in me; trust that the Church has placed in me, one of her priests; trust that God has in me, in the lives and stories that are entrusted to my confidence.

Each day the community gathers and breaks open the word and breaks the bread. I meet God in this - the summit of our Christian life. The Eucharist is when all the little meetings with God come together and there with us is: "My Lord, and my God."

As the day darkens, the events of this day draw me to spare time alone with the God I have met through the day, to spend time with the one who has given me so much during this day. It may not always be like this. Some days I miss God as he comes to meet me on the road of the day. Fears or distractions can at time make me blind to his presence. In my daily life as a diocesan priest, I am blest by the many meetings with God that occur. Meetings that let me know that God is truly with us in each other in the happenings of the day, in the sacraments that are celebrated and in our relationship of prayer.

Christian Wisdom

Smile at each other,
smile at your wife,
smile at your husband,
smile at your children,
smile at each other --
it doesn't matter who it is --
and that will help you to grow up in greater love for each other.
         Bl. Mother Teresa

10 Little Christians

10 little Christians standing in line. 1 disliked the preacher, then there were 9.

9 little Christians stayed up very late. 1 overslept Sunday, then there were 8.

8 little Christians on their way to Heaven. 1 took the low road and then there were 7.

7 little Christians chirping like chicks. 1 disliked music, then there were 6.

6 little Christians seemed very much alive, but one lost his interest then there was 5.

5 little Christians pulling for Heaven's Shore, but one stopped to rest, then there were 4

4 little Christians each busy as a bee. 1 got his feelings hurt, then there were 3

3 little Christians knew not what to do. 1 joined the sporty crowd, then there were 2

2 little Christians, our rhyme is nearly done, differed with each other, then there was 1

1 little Christian can't do much 'tis true, brought his friend to bible study, then there were 2

2 earnest Christians, each won one more. That doubled the number, then there were 4

4 sincere Christians worked early and late. Each won another then there were 8

8 splendid Christians if they doubled as before. In just so many Sundays, we'd have 1,024

In this little jingle, there is a lesson true, you belong either to the building or to the wrecking crew!

A TIME TO BELIEVE

To believe is to know that every day is a new beginning.
It is to trust that miracles happen,
and dreams really do come true.

To believe is to see angels dancing among the clouds,
To know the wonder of a stardust sky
and the wisdom of the man in the moon.

To believe is to know the value of a nurturing heart,
The innocence of a child's eyes
and the beauty of an aging hand,
for it is through their teachings we learn to love.

To believe is to find the strength
and courage that lies within us.
When it is time to pick up the pieces and begin again.

To believe is to know we are not alone,
That life is a gift and this is our time to cherish it.

To believe is to know that wonderful surprises
are just waiting to happen,
And all our hopes and dreams are within reach.
If only we believe

God's Baking A Cake

When I was young, I often watched my grandmother bake cakes. She'd
gather all ingredients, measure the appropriate amounts, then mix
everything together. One time, I knew how the finished product was going
to taste and I just couldn't wait; so I "sneaked" a taste of all the
ingredients --one by one. To my dismay I soon discovered that flour
doesn't taste good by itself! Neither do eggs, shortening, baking
powder, etc. However, since she knew what she was doing, the process
continued --- measuring, mixing, and beating together. She would then
place the batter in the oven where the heat caused it to rise. Once the
layers were cooled, she covered them with a "glaze". Guess who was
trying to get that first slice???

In God's hands, we're just like that cake! You see, instead of flour, HE
uses failures. Rather than eggs, HE allows enemies to come our way.
Instead of baking powder, HE permits broken promises. Instead of sugar,
HE uses sadness.

None of these ingredients are good by themselves; wouldn't you agree?
But because HE knows what´s best, the process continues---measuring,
mixing, and yes...even beating it all together. Afterwards, HE allows us
to go through "life´s oven" (trials and pressures) in order that we,
too, may rise up. We´re then allowed to "cool" before he
covers us -- not with a glaze, but with HIS grace! You´re going to be an
awesome "cake" when God gets through with you!
I realize, everything in life may not be good to you, but remember HIS
promise to make everything in life good for you.

Again, don´t take my word, take HIS......And we know that all things
work together for the good of them that love GOD and are called
according to HIS purpose (Romans 8:28
Remember, you´re being kept by HIS promise!

April 27  - Jesus Calling

Come to Me with empty hands and an open heart, ready to receive abundant blessings. I know the depth and breadth of your neediness. Your life-path has been difficult, draining you of strength. Come to Me for nurture. Let Me fill you up with My Presence: I in you, and you in Me.

My Power flows most freely into weak ones aware of their need for Me. Faltering steps of dependence are not lack of faith; they are links to My Presence.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
—John 17:20–23

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
