Classroom full of kids. Guidance counselor came around to each teacher and told us what happened. Parent started picking up their kids and taking them home. I worried since my daughters were in areas of danger. My oldest daughter called them all and then called me to say they were safe.

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it.
For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.

DH reminded me this morning that our son was living in Alexandria VA and working in Georgetown. He was training for a marathon and ran the 10 miles or so to the Pentagon early that morning and then the 10 miles back home.

Of course his office was closed and the roads blocked off for a few days until it was known what was happening.

Neither my husband or son told me he was in the vincinity for a week afterwards knowing I would have been so scared for him.

@jlkz Sounds like you were in Pennsylvania at Merck's West Point site. I was at their NJ site in Rahway.

DH and I always started watching the Today show as soon as it came on in CA. So we were at home having coffee when the events started. We watched for hours that day and beyond and didn't even realize for several weeks that the plane that went into the Pentagon was the exact plane my DH took from DC to LAX twice a month ( had been doing this for over a year). He usually would have been on it on Thurs or Fri after working at the Pentagon for 3-4 days. The thought of that brought shivers to both of us.

I will never forget. Unfortunately I can't reveal where I was or what I was doing because it would be very easy to determine who I am. Suffice it to say that I lost two friends who were Port Authority Police Officers that awful day.
