Anyone I know or needs to reach me has my cell number. That's the one I use/give out. When we built the house about 22 yrs. ago, cell phones were not as popular for texting or attached to everyone's ear or fingers to constantly check emails. DH used to have a fax machine in his study at home so needed a second line (& not a cell). It also has our answering machine.
The only calls coming in on that number now are robo calls. DH explained we have a "bundle" with cable, internet and phone through Spectrum. The "house phone" is also connected to the alarm system, but can to switched to the cell number for a small charge.
I say, "unbundle".
Anyone else just use cell phones at home?

depends
i give out my house # so people won't' call me
MrJTB calls business people on house phone so they won't have access to his cell
so it's totally up to you and your lifestyle

I was "bundled" with cable, internet and phone my first year in the apartment. At the end of that first year the price went way up. I called and tried to negotiate a better price...didn't work, so I cut out the land line. The next year got rid of cable....use Roku and inside antenna.
i have never once missed the land line. Always use my cell phone, and don't get a bunch of robo calls on it, either.
I suggest trying doing without it. You can always hook it up again if you find you miss it.

We still have a land line and are keeping it, it would cost us more to get rid of it. It also is better to use the land line to call the police or an ambulance since it is trackable

We have a land line, and one corded phone in our basement. If there is a power outage, it will continue to work. Your other phones will continue to lose power.... unless you have a generator or independent power source.

one more thing
we have terrible cell service in our house, always has been since our first phones to current iPhones, so service is one more thing to think about as well

I'll never get rid of mine. Landlines are FREE w/my cable bundle.

I don't have a cell phone so I need my landline plus if the power goes out the phone still works. Saving money not having a cell phone. I got a trac phone once and never used it the whole year. I don't drive that often and I figure if I need help everyone else has one.

My cell is used for emergencies and the number given out to only those few I want to have it but they use the landline since I don't keep my cell on unless using it for music and when I am expecting a call. I don't want to be tethered to my phone and the annoyance of unimportant calls or texts constantly bothering me from people or places I don't want a connection to!!! I think the answer to that question depends on each person. Just be aware that using cell only probably will result in robo calls anyway. I was told that spam calls can result from keeping a cell phone on all the time and lists can be taken from active and on cells. I know I have never gotten a spam call on my cell but all those I know who only have cells get many of them which is the result of giving their cell out to businesses.

@nyc1 When we've lost power, I charge my cell in the car. My land line is plugged into the wall and the first to go out.
