@1Snickers

It is definitely time to watch for snakes in West Virginia!

On Saturday we saw 4 near the house; 2 garter snakes, a black rat snake, and a black racer.   One of the garter snakes made the mistake of slithering under one of the dog houses, and whenever the snake came out, the dog killed it.

We've always seen black snakes here, we know to watch for them, and generally we leave them alone.   The ones that come on the front porch and in the garage, die.   The 5-6 ft ones also die, as we don't want snakes this size hanging out near the house, or the dogs.

@RedTop - here in SC we look for snakes most of the year. We have the basic garter, black, racer and water snakes near the house. The ones I don't like are the copperheads that we have found in the garage or the water mocassins.

Glad you weren't hurt!  (And I'm sure the birds are loving you!). I know about foot slips......yesterday, I was coming downstairs in stocking feet (I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER do that).  I have hardwood floors and stairs.  All of a sudden, I slipped down about 4-5 steps!  No obvious injuries, thankfully.  And also thankfully....I'm currently doing physical therapy for my shoulder!  So if I did anything, they'll work with that, along with my other issues!  Hope you can get more raspberries soon.  Raspberries are my favorite!

@Krimpette ...They are my favorite berry too.  Where we had our summer home on Long Island my aunt grew the raspberries.  The blue and black berries grew wild in the woods and my sister and I along, with our two cousins, would pick them and fill large containers.  Jam and pies were the two things our mother made with those berries.
