@RooRoo   We have an RV too and are taking into consideration what can be played when we travel in the RV.  Good to hear your recommendation and You Tube is a consideration.  Thanks and happy RVing!

@qbetzforreal   I thought Direct TV was expensive....and that is what we are trying to avoid.  Unfortunately we can't use antennas in our area.  Glad you found a solution!

Re: Cutting the cord

@tobes   I agree, Spectrum knows that they don't have competition and could care less about their customers.  You used to be able to negotiate a better price....no longer.  The service is down intermittently, but the. prices continue to rise.

@Drythe   I think she meant Cord Cutter's News. com...you might want to look at the predictions for 2021....interesting article and basically backed what posters are saying here.

Thanks @traveler!

Thanks for the information.  The search here is exacerbated because we live out in the country, and rely on Dish.  More than willing to make the cut if we can find a combo. that works for us.

We cut the cord a couple of years ago and never looked back.  For those that don't want to have to think about the streaming service they have to "pick" it's absolutely no different than you cable connectors clicking through your channels.  I turn on my TV, click on "Xfinity" or any of the others we have and bam ALL those channels you get come up.  All we pay for is our internet.  That's it.  It's easy to use not a big technical thing.  Our bill is so low now.  We have Xfinity for our internet so we stream Xfinity tv.  All the same channels you cable guys get.  One time investment in a fire stick and you get prime movies, TV, etc, the Roku box (easy set up no biggie seriously).  The hardest thing was sending the dumb cable box back.  You only have so many days to send it, has to be packed a certain way, label on the box in a special place etc...they purposely make it a pain hoping you'll not do it.  Thing is once you realize just how easy it is to stream, you never go back.   There are jailbroken boxes that you can get over 500 and more channels on again not expensive one time charge and easy to attach.  I can stream my TV on any device I want.  Never fooled with "Sling"  not sure why people are hung up on that.  You can lower your bill by so much.  Seriously.

@qvcfreak I watch Midsomer Murders on PBS, they show them Thursdays but half one week & then the other half the next week, come to find out Tubi shows the whole episode so I can watch the rest there.  Like you said they do have ads but it's not too bad.

there is a channel for Midsomer on the Pluto service, 24/7

Pluto is a free streaming service (nothing is free) but you don't pay a monthly fee

@phoenixbrd- My sister streams tv with a firestick.  She's satisfied with the content.  A friend has Sling and Netflix and he's happy.

My Spectrum bill just went up $12 in June.

So unhappy at how Greedy they are!

Time  Warner gave promotions that would last about a year. You could renew those.

Just a reminder that streaming services rely on internet connection, and quickly increase your usage of the internet.

The term unlimited internet usage is misleading, as there is a GB limit on each plan, which incurs additional charges once you exceed your plans limit.   With 4 tv's under DirecTV and both girls using streaming services, we exceed our plan usage every month.
