@CherryHugs.  8 often send condolence cards to friends, business contacts, etc.  It doesnt have to be family.  It can be anyone you want to know you're thinking about them.

I am sorry for you loss, and yes if you feel led to send a card then send it.  I also send a lot of cards.

I think a condolence card is always appropriate.  When my brother in law died even though I was there with my sister at the hospital I still sent her a card.

My husband and I sent a card to his buddy's wife a few years back.

She had lost her mother. 

 

She was so appreciative of receiving that from us that she sent us

a thank you for remembering her mother card back to us.

 

It is always nice to be remembered.
