Church nursery floor....carpet or tile?

We need to replace our flooring in the church nursery.  Do you recommend carpet or tile in the nursery?  Thank you .

Tile for cleaning, with carpet pieces for softness.  These can be cleaned or replaced without replacing the entire carpet.  In one room, our church has half carpet where the kids play, and tile where they sit for story time, crafts, etc.  Another room has 'carpet blocks'--the floor is covered, but a block is easily removed if necessary.  Hope this helps!

Re: Church nursery floor....carpet or tile?

In our church, we have smooth tile floor and use a big area rug in our various nursery rooms.  Before installation, we consulted with our local health department for what their requirements are for daycares (we do not have a daycare, but wanted to make sure we did what was considered 'safe').  They suggested tile floors with area rugs.   Keeping the tile floors clean/sanitary is a lot easier than trying to keep carpeting clean.  The area rugs are cleaned regularly and can be switched out easier as well.

Is that your only choices?  There are some nice floors available today that can be cleaned but are not as hard as tile.

Spoiler

I'm gonna say vinyl.  Easy to clean, but softer underfoot than tile.  You can use a scatter rug for story time.

ETA:  Sorry about the spoiler tag.

Gosh since it's for a nursery, how about foam matting or some type of soft interlocking floor covering.

Vinyl tiles or vinyl sheet.  Easy to clean, yet softer, safer for youngsters.  Area carpets that are washable or shampoo-able and able to vacume in between cleaning.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

That can't be serious question.  It's a no brainer....tile.  It's easy to keep clean and you don't have to be concerned with allergies.
