I know you will do fine and have a good time. You taught and I know you will have a good time finding out other's interests and sharing yours.
(what state are you in if I may ask?).
Since you are such a talented baker, you might want to take something and some little paper plates forks, and napkins. Who doesn't love a "goodie"???
Please let us know!

Funny you should say that - it's actually one of my coping skills. Yes, it does sound odd and it really does help.

Bringing food along, especially home made, without pre-approval from the host is presumptuous and improper. It puts your host on the spot given no choice but to serve it, and may upstage what she had planned to serve.

You have already done the hardest part. You reached out and were accepted. Go and have a good time.

I'm currently living in a hotel, as our house won't be ready until the end of next week, so the idea of baking anything is out of the question. Even so, I wouldn't do that until I know how the group normally functions. We were at a specialty candy store in town today and I bought some candy for the hostess. I hope that will be considered appropriate and well received.

Attended a seminar on "Shyness" and the teacher told us, "You are only shy when you think you are!"
HIs example was, "You talk to Jill on the phone everyday at work and you like her but hesitate to go sit at the table where she is at lunch."
Think about the interesting people you are going to meet and you will be fine!

I kept to my word and I went. One of the things that had concerned me was that she lives in a remote and very exclusive part of the city. I was afraid I'd never find her house and that I'd feel out of place if I did. DH drove me and picked me up, so that solved that problem.
There were only four of us there. The hostess was extremely gracious and friendly. She texted me afterwards and said that she enjoyed my company and was happy I was able to attend. I'm glad I did, but I doubt that I will join them again. It turns out that none of them actually knit or crochet ... a possibility that never crossed my mind since it was the "Knit and Crochet Group". In any case, I'm glad I met them and I'd be happy to see them again if our paths cross in one of the other groups or activities.
Thank you all for your encouragement. It really did help.

On Hendersonville Rd. across from a private school is a Fresh Market, Starbucks, and a few other businesses plus Bernina Machine and cotton store if you quilt which I don't. They will likely have the info of local groups.
