Yes I can.  My bootcamp instructor has us do a lot of exercizes to help with balance etc that can suffer as we age, one of them is to do the second one several times.

I have an old injury from a bad break in my foot so I try to make sure to do these exercizes so I dont lose balance

I can do it, but can't hold it for long.  It also exacerbates my sciatica.

I have a balance exercise I do at the gym.  Go into Arabesque position on one leg (think airplane) except with my hands behind my back.  I do that one leg at a time and hold for 5 seconds.  On the 5th time each leg, I bring both my free leg and my arms around to the front as I bend my supprorting leg knee until I'm all the way down and holding my free leg out in front of me.  Basically, it's a camel spin position into a sit spin position if you know skating terms, but it's actually easier doing it spinning than it is from a static position, or at least the sitting part is.  I never had a great camel spin.

I once had someone at the gym see me do this and ask me did I know how hard it was to do that.  Well, yes, I do.  I had to work into it.

It's strange that I can't stand on my heels without being wobbly b/c otherwise I'm very good with my balance. I have never fallen b/c of balance issues or anything else for that matter.  What gives??

@Sugipine

I was sent to a neurologist after developing arthritis in my left hand.  He checked me very well, tested reactions, and I need a spine MRI, and several other tests after the 6 half tubes and 1 full of blood today.

My husband just told me that if you can go from a sitting position to standing up using only one leg--that's a good thing.

Well I tried an tried and it seemed impossible and I was bummed.  (He can't do it either.)

But I tried it from my bed which is higher than the couch or a dining room chair and I was able to do it.

They say a good test is to see if you can get up from the floor without holding onto something to help you up.  It can hurt my knees, if I get up that way, but I can do it.
