Shadow and I are on our own through the weekend.  DH went 4 states away for a large caver's convention and I will be at work.

Would you like to babysit, hug and kiss for several days???

He's a sweet baby, just "high octane"!!!

@ECBG,

Hi and hope you are enjoying your 4 days with your loveable but high octane boy!

Do you know of a nice inn in the mountains overlooking a river in NC?

Have you heard of the Broad River Inn in Chimney Rock?

My daughters and I want to find a weekend place to stay for birthdays.

I wish we could exchange emails now cause I would come visit you and your Shadow!💞

Hi!  I would suggest if you want to see Chimney Rock, you stay in Asheville.  Chimney Rock is about 2-3 hours of visiting.  Below there are a few very modest shops, but the Old Rock Cafe, does have wonderful pit smoked barbcue and would be a wonderful lunch stop.

You would love to see the Folk Art Center, where all the real artists make everything in the way it was done in the 1800's.  Nothing can be used that is manufactured.  We're speaking of hand carved, and items made on looms. To be part of the Folk Art Center, they must live in the Appalachian mountain range.

If you want to visit Biltmore House, get your tickets on line.

Grove Park Inn is an amazing Arts and Crafts hotel where we kept captured generals during WW 1.

You probably want to drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I would love to meet you for lunch at the Corner Kitchen, a 125 year old house in Biltmore Village.  You know what I look like from Outfit of the Day.  I'll get us reservations.  Air Force 1 has landed here for visits to this restaurant.

Please let me know your dates and get Biltmore house tickets immediately if you want them, we entering leaf season.

It would be difficult for you to meet the baby.  We got him in the pandemic, and it takes him a long time to warm up.

Broad River Inn is very nice.  The boating pictures you see are literally around the corner from the rock, where Dirty Dancing was filmed.  Lake Lure.

You might arrive, stay there, Enjoy the next day at the rock around that small area, stay there.  Chimney Rock then move to a hotel in Asheville.

Chimney Rock is almost 30 miles from Asheville on narrow, winding roads.

Re: Calling On The Bay 6/09/22

@ECBG,

Thank you for all the info!

We wouldn't be going til the end of January. Was just looking for a nice pllace to stay overlooking the mountains and a river. I've been to Biltmore before at Christmas with my daughters and it was wonderful!We also explored Asheville and the artists back then.

We wouldn't be doing much if any exploring this time, just staying at an Inn and relaxing. Only my one daughter likes walking or hiking.

Anyway, it is good to know about how we could meet. When we get any dates, I'll let you know and thnku💓
