I was under the impression that orders from walmart could be marked "Don't Replace".  

I'm picking up an order tomorrow while I'm out and the "Don't Replace" buttons weren't live.  Is this par for the course?

Delivery does allow "Don't Replace."  Use it all the time.  Don't know about Pickup.

Once you go to the checkout page, there's a line called substitution preferences. Click there and a substitution item list comes up.

Careful! Walmart tries to lead you into more expensive options, but you're in charge.

You can change substitution preferences until about four hours before pickup/delivery time.

I saw it when I just now googled it.

Maybe it didn't show because I'm doing a pickup.  I know I've seen it before; but I've picked up and had deliveries.  I'm doing a pick up this time.

If it's bad weather or too heavy, I chose delivery.

@ECBG. There's a way you can mark items "don't substitute" when you go through your order summary but I don't remember exactly how I've done it.

That Walmart app is not user friendly, and I often find it hard to find functions.  I spent 30 min yesterday trying to find the last order I placed.   Never found it.

@ECBG We use the Walmart but mostly from the laptop and the regular site not the app.  It's easy to do don't replace for everything or to specify the item that can be substituted.

You can do it until the end of the time when you can add items to the order.  When you go in during that time and make changes in items or substitutions be sure to go to the top of the page and "save" the changes.

I never order in the app--too difficult.  But we do the pickup confirmation and "on the way" from the app on the phone.
