I have Shadow by myself for the next 14 days and he's used to long walks in the trees.  I walk in the trees but my nose runs.  Love it!  Grrrr.......

I took the walking stick, mindful of my recently bruised ankle (and the threat it will probably break next time) and went down the steep path to the ponds.  I took some pics of the area you love.  You will see Shadow in some.  This is his happy place.  You should have seen me trying to get back up!

Everything is emerald green from the recent rain.

I can understand why Shadow loves this place so much.  Just imagine the enticing scents that must dwell there and the possibility of some small denizen popping out.  Just watch for snakes....both of you.

Why don't you invest in some trekking poles or at least a walking stick to give yourself some stability?  If you fell and injured yourself, would anyone know where you were?  Could they find you?  Take a cell phone with you.

@Kachina624

Thank you.  I took my cell phone and took pictures.

DH should have terraced some steps at the start since it's an 80% angle down.  It's terribly hard to lift my foot high enough to get back up at 5' 6".

At the start, "Don't fall down".

@ECBG   What  a beautiful area.  I sympathize with you about your nose- me, I'd be having a sneezing marathon.  Thanks for the beautiful photos.  Hugs Shadow for me.

@alliswell

Amazingly,  this time wasn't so bad.  I guess 4 days of rain washed all of the leaves.  We live in the Appalachian Mountains   not far from the Cradle  of Forestry.

@ECBG what a beautiful place.  I understand about your nose.  I suffer with severe allergies along with asthma.  Not sure if your are willing to try wearing a mask while you are walking and you can stop and take breaks and remove it and take a breath or two.  Long before COVID, my allergiest recommended that I wear a mask when outside for long periods of time especially during the pollen season. I have found that it does help me.  Your photos were beautiful.
