Re: COIN in the freezer...helpful tip...

great tip. I have these "ice cube" packs which come in handy for everything - (these are flexible) and I can use them to tell if our power went off (which has been quite often inc. about 15 min ago!)

yes about 1/2 hour ago! It happens a lot lately really don't know why? Usually late afternoon/early evening - sometimes I think power station overloaded by so many a/c units running!!! It's been humid & hot for past few weeks..

thank you you for asking! Enjoy you're evening

As cold as we set the freezer, my power would have to be out for a long time to thaw anything.  Like days.

Good idea.

I've heard a similar way to do this .......    throw a tray of ice cubes in a bowl and put them back in the freezer.  If the power goes out, the freezer warms up,  and the ice cubes have thawed a little or a lot, you know the food in there probably isn't safe.

The reason I like this better is smaller cubes will melt faster than a chunk of ice .... I think.
