I had my opthomology appt. yesterday and he dedected cataracts...not urgent and will ck. me in a year, unless vision changes. DH is still doing drops in both eyes and hasn't had appts. to get new RX for glasses for computer work, etc. So, I'll be next maybe in 6-8 months if I get checked again before the year.
DH had minor anesthesia for first eye and took hours to wake up and go home. Second eye he consented to a "shot" under and in the eye....OMG!!! He had "relaxing IV" and said he doesn't remember anything, but sounds like torture to me.

A Shot in the Eye for Cataract Surgery?? NOOO NOOOO. Mine were done without shot in the eye. Yikes!
I just had an IV, inside elbow.
1st eye was strange. Out cold.
2nd Eye, also IV, I could vaguely know what was going on in Surgery. My SUPER Eye Surgeon said, that 1st, the mind/body didnt know what to expect. But the 2nd IV anesthesia, the body couldnt be fooled again.
Good luck!!
From what I remember, neither was awful (unless a person struggles with IV, or needles)
The Cataract Surgery was sooooo incredible, I wish Id had this same surgery, Surgeon, in 4th Grade!!
I can even see LINT on the jackets of ppl on TV! heh
(But I still need glasses for Close & distance. Surprised the heck outta me abt this part)
glasses. oh well.)
