Wow I would NEVER buy chairs, sofas, any furniture online!! How do you know if its comfortable?? Nope I'm a firm believer of supporting my local businesses. Buy local.

I've ordered a piece from Bassett through their web site. I knew from looking that it was just what I wanted, and it has been.
I can't remember what the return policy was at the time. There's a showroom about 40 miles from here but that is further than I care to travel.

I took a chance 2 years ago on ordering a sofa & recliner. I looked at several online & did visit a few stores to see if anyone had it in stock. I found several stores who could order, & ordered thru the cheapest price & ordered. When I ordered gray, I kept looking to make sure they wrote & ordered gray. When they delivered, it was chocolate brown. Of course I was furious! It took a little longer, but I was very happy when the correct color arrived. I special ordered a red recliner also. I sat in the store chair & just ordered the custom color. I was a bit worried on the RED order, but it was perfect when arrived. I've never been happier with any furniture I've purchased.
**You never know what will happen when ordering, lol.

Are you looking to replace 2 comfortable chairs that have seen better days, or do you need brand new chairs? They don’t make them like they used to, so if you like your current chairs, you might consider getting them reupholstered. We have a reupholsterer nearby that we’ve used for years (I even used them to reupholster my office furniture when I was working). In addition to recovering the chair, they practically rebuild it as part of the process. It’s a thought.

I purchased our dining room set, an upholstered chair for the living room ad our mattress online. BUT! Not without seeing, touching and trying them out first. I saw them all at the two furniture stores and did some comparison shopping and when I made my decision....I purchased online. I buy almost everything online but some things, I just have to see and touch. Things like funiture. Also, I bought from big national furniture stores.

I would purchase online if I was able to try it out first and knew it would be comfortable. Furniture is so expensive and you want something to last.
The last time we looked for a couch hubby got really mad that he would have to wait 2-3 weeks for a furniture store to deliver. Went to Big Lots found something which is sold in the other stores for way less money. Based on what we paid we know its not going to last forever but it is comfortable. We will have to buy again. However, we have 4 kids so we decided to purchase something we wouldn't be upset over if it got damaged. Once they are gone we can make a bigger investment.

Hi Carmie!
Thank you for your response! We live in NC, about 60 miles from High Point which is where we purchased our current furniture. It's a wonderful place for all kinds of furniture! DH was hoping to find something a bit closer to home, but after we struck out yesterday I suggested a return to High Point! BTW, we are originally from PA!
Thanks to everyone for your help! 😀

I ordered a couch from Art Van one time. That was after I visited it in the store and waited for the price to come down. It was part of their Copper Harbor Collection (sort of a tribute to Michigan) and no way was I going to pay $1300 for a couch only. Once the price dropped I ordered it online. Of course Art Van messed up the order but we straightened it out.
The only chairs I bought without seeing them up front was from Target (I think). They were ready to assemble kitchen chairs that matched a table I bought.
