Hi I have a maple tree update.  This little bugger has been growing for a week or so and I was waiting until it looked more sizable to take a photo of it.  Now I don't know if the tree remembers that there was a big limb there before or if this is one of the s*uckers that tree people say sprout out when a tree is under stress.  I'm counting it all joy and hope it really sprouts.
